For the longest time, I thought Manfred Mann's - Blinded by the Light went like this...

"Blinded by the light"
"Put up like a ***** (<-think masingil) in the middle of the night"

Has anyone else listened to lyrics like this and thought they were one thing, but later found out they were something else?

For the longest time, I'd hear that song and laugh as I sang my version of it....hehehe

guy tells him: the world is gray Jack!

all this time, i thought he was saying "the world is great jack"

feel like an idiot. took me 10+ years to realize this.

Wow OP, thank you for reminding me to look up the lyrics to that dang song because that's how I've always heard/sung it also and just never remembered to look up the real thing!

a request for a band to play "Cedar Tree"....band leader says "can you sing me a part of it?" and the guy sings "cedar tree, how big it's grown but friend it hasn't been to long..."

* for those who don't know the song, it was Honey by Bobby Goldsboro ... "see the tree, how big it's grown..etc"

Some of these reminded me of Linda Ronstadt's It's so easy to Fall in Love, not that we ever misunderstood that lyric but back in Jr High we learned you can substitute almost any 3 words for "Fall in Love" and the song still makes perfect sense.
Try it the next time you here it.
Some of the ones we did use:
"buy some drugs"
"blank a girl"
etc, etc
