im almost 100% sure (lets say 95%) that it isnt a prerequisite.. just highly highly recommended you take 141 before 142.

If you have trouble with either of those classes you should drop out of college.

lol... i'm a senior that has been puttin these off. was gonna take 141 in the summer, but the lady that teaches it has an average gpa of 1.7, and 12% of her students drop her class.

sweetie is right. I took both. you don't need 141 to take 142. In fact, I made an A in 142 and a B in 141. I took 142 first (after taking 151, which is the engr equivalent)

141 = finite math... matrices, ven diagrams, bullsh99it along those lines

142 = business calc, basically the finite version of 151. it's calculus.

They're pretty independent of each other for sure, but your TA pretty much determines how well you will do in the class. I've heard some pretty tough horror stories so I wouldn't just assume someone is a dumbass for not acing the class

HUSH. Not all of us are math inclined.

I suck at math compared to other subjects but I still minored in it, and work as an actuary.

I had a girlfriend who used to say that. In high school she took the four-semester version of Algebra I. Twice. That's right, folks, she spent her entire high school career trying to finish a class that most of us completed in the 8th grade.

Granted, she was much better at things like English. But you know what? It wasn't that she was not "math-inclined." She just wasn't very smart. All of the intelligent people I know are much more well-rounded and wouldn't have a problem making a good grade in 141, which is probably the easiest math class you could possibly take in college.

Yeah, matrix algebra was simple. It was a good stepping stone to difEq though.

Even if it wasn't simple, THEY MAKE YOU USE A EFFING CALCULATOR!

Matrix algebra theory wasn't as easy though, for some reason.

I understand sarcasm fine. Hence the use of the phrase RETARTS.

When I took 141, way back in the day, we had to do all those matrices without a calculator. It was hard, boring, and time consuming.
