I was in BYX. is it a fraternity, yes. is it part of the greek system, no - thankfully. i would recommend it wholeheartedly.

as far as "traditional" fraternities, I wish I could have gotten into Alpha Phi Alpha

fly army-

I would tell someone to wait a semester or even a year, to get your grades and studying habits in line then go for it. b/c i knew way too many that did it there first semester there and ended up on sco pro and never came back after the first year, b/c if you screw it up the first semester you will spend awhile trying to right your wrongs gradewise, come to think of it didn't they add something that you no grade some freshman courses or something like that

the anti frat people from northside and the corps always amaze me. im not in a frat, and i know some douchebags that are in frats, but i also know a lot of cool people that are in frats. just being in a frat doesnt automatically make you a collar popping, boatshoe wearing flamer. there are plenty of normal guys that are in frats. but if you ask anyone from moses or walton, every single frat guy is a homo.

that being said, i have heard pikapp, sigma chi and delta chi are the best ones.

Frats serve no purpose at A&M.

What few status symbols there are here are earned, not bought.

exactly. 100% agree.

If for some reason your brother does decide to go for it and pledge, tell him not to be a *****. Pledge SAE and really get his **** effed up for a semester. This way, he can continue the trend of sick ass stuff they do to each other when the next set of pledges come in. From what my friends tell me, it is well worth it.

You dug up a thread from 19 years ago, then tagged an article related to San Diego State University for what purpose?

To remind people that frats are the wooooooorrrrrst.

How did you not get that?

They are totally worthwhile organizations and not just glorified drinking clubs with daddy's credit cards.

Quote:

Danny Santulli was a freshman at the University of Missouri in the fall of 2021. On Oct. 19 of that year, he was pledging to the Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity.

Mary Santulli, Danny's mother, said it was pledge dad reveal night.

"The pledge dad at that time handed Danny a bottle of Tito's," she said.

Danny Santulli was told he had to finish a whole bottle of liquor, along with the other pledges that night.

His mother said they proceeded upstairs where he was given beer through a funnel.

"They threw him on the couch, literally just threw him on his back, and he was pretty much just left there the rest of the night," she said.

Members of the fraternity then found Danny Santulli not breathing and took him to the emergency room.

Quote:

Danny Santulli suffered severe brain damage and lost his ability to walk, talk and see, his parents said.

I actually appreciate you posting this. For any of us with sons still in the house, this is relevant.

The dorms were essentially fraternities.
People paid money to achieve an objective, and often selected where they resided, then reveled in their community pride. Rent a friend, join a frat. Rent a room, join a frat.

Yep,

Davis-Gary Hall was very much this. Ran around with their DG t-shirts wanting to be noticed. Heck even this pic looks like a pic outside a Fraternity house.

They even had a Crest

Doing "games" that look kinda fraternity-ish if you ask me.

Except there is no elitist/conformist "rush" process to see who is "good enough" to be a DG man.

Except for that.

Should I google to find the past articles where the Corps was involved in hazing incidents? I'm sure a lot of the Corps hazing incidents get handled "internally" by the university.
maroon barchetta
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Yes.

You should pull all of the national news articles about the Corps killing members thru alcohol poisoning or drug overdose or burning them or causing them to lose a testicle.

Post 'em here.

Also post their embarrassing blackface parties in modern times.

Dorm applications took care of that.

Pshaw

RHA wanted people who could fill a room and pay. It was more "who got their application in the fastest" than anything else.

When I was in school, the corps guys got along fine with the frats. It was the dorm folks that had the problems with frats.

This was me, back in the days when frats were just starting at A&M.

To OP, my younger brother was a KA and one of my best friends was an ATO.
