Why would you want to put a $10.00 frame on a $30,000 piece of paper? The diploma could be damaged if incorrect materials are used to mat and support the frame. Part of the high price is because the framer has the liability of losing or ruining the diploma while it is in their care. I spent about $250 to have mine framed and I think it looks nice and professional. I have seen some that were inexpensively framed and they looked bad. Framing should run between $125 and $300 depending on the materials.

why do roses cost 3,000% more on Valentine's?

why does wedding cake cost 400% more than graduation cake?

why does dry cleaning a woman's blouse double the cost of a man's shirt?

why ask why?

Hobby Lobby framed my daughter's for about 140.Matching frame for Ring print was 55 and I think 55 for the Honor Society certificate.

We are going the same route in December for '05er!

Look in the ads for Hobby Lobby. Darn near every month they have ads for half off of custom framing.

Frames are so expensive because everyone knows we will pay for them.

When I was looking, Hobby Lobby was the most expensive. They quoted me at about $450. I got my frame at Aggie unlimited in Post Oak mall, as did my boyfriend, and we both love our frames. I think mine was $170, and I took it down to Deck the Walls and paid about 10 bucks to have them flatten it and put it in the frame.

Deck the walls in the mall, $150 drive out and it looks very nice, just had my wife's masters done.

They have some even cheaper.

my roommate just paid $450 for hers because she wanted some benjamin knox painting that goes about it. i understand having a nice frame and i know my diploma is something i'll be more than proud to have, but 450 (before tax!) is absurd to me. she got her parents to pay for it, but that's the only thing she got graduation wise from them.

Checkout the selection at Myra's Gallery and Custom Framing (404 University Drive). She has a great selection and a wide range of prices and styles. Tell her you saw her add in the Battalion and she will give you a discount.
