Yeah, but they say band qualified.

And CT does really stand for Corps Turd, but they say Corps Trained...

yada, yada, yada...

How did those terms of endearment get started anyway?

I know many BQ's that acknowledge it being band queer.

Um...no. Same with the BQs. I'm a proud dead Corps Turd and my BQ friends are proud dead Band Queers.

Hey, Jock: I know. I just usually don't advertise that with those who weren't in the Corps. If a CT wants to call me a BQ or band queer, that's fine. Non-regs using that term or CT; I really don't care for that. That's just me.

By the way, I didn't make that up, that used to be the thing that was told to parents. Kind of like SQ 1. If I remember right, they told parents RAMF stood for ready and motivated freshmen.

Hmm...maybe. I've NEVER of heard it, but I suppose it has been said. What year are you?
Third Aggie

'00, but it was a lot more common to hear that in the late 80's, early 90's. Nothing official, just kind of a joke that people said.

BQs has been around well before ’65. Beaters and blowers, terms of endearment.

Neither one has bothered me. I always found it funny that if the CTs in Duncan would take the time to listen to the Aggie BQ song, it was quite hilarious in what they said about themselves

ironically RAMF also had another conotation...It started with Rear Area and ended.....

"Welcome to Paradise, Find a Bulkhead!"

(Sung to the tune of the Rice Alma Mater)

We're the Aggie Band Queers, Scum of the earth.
Filth of creation, gone from bad to worse, we're dirty son-of-a-b1tches.
Found in every bar room, every wh0re house, too.
We're the Aggie Band Queers from A M C!!!

BQ = BAnd Queer. Always has been, always will be.

CT = Corps Turd

Now, call me a CT and I get pretty offended. (jokingly) I'M A BQ, DAMMIT!!!

When I entered the FTAB in 1956, we called ourselves BQ's. It was my understanding that the term had been use many years prior to that.

I don't know if it is still used, but in the 70's in the Corps, you didn't have a roomate, you had an 'ol lady.

I was once told that the PC translation of CT was Cadet in Training

Yep, still being used last time I checked. Still best friends with my 'ol lady, now a 1st Lt. in the AF.

CT=Corps Turd, no substitutions please.

We always did the BQ song as above. However, some guys from the class of 61 (I think) came by Dorm 11 during a reunion. They were surprised to hear we still sang the BQ song, which they created.

However, they told us the line was

"Found in every w****house free"

It thus rhymed with "A-M-C", and denoted their sexual prowess was so great that they did not have to pay.

Since we don't play Rice in football anymore, many of you probably don't know the tune is "Rice Honor", the Rice Alma Mater.

Our fellow Ags always found it amusing when Rice was playing their school song and the BQs were singing along.

i knew a guy freshman year that people called RAMF... he had red hair and it stood for Red Ant Mother ******

He never figured it out. We thought it was funny a year or so later when we discovered there was some other type of RAMF on campus

Nobody's disputing that BQ, band queer, CT, Corps Turd has been around forever. It has. I just remember when my siblings ('90 & '96) were in school, when some people like parents asked, they would say corps-trained or whatever. That's all.

I'm sorry, but that is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Are parents now so sensitive that they have to be lied to? I mean, come on. My Dad is a retired Army Chaplain and Ordained Southern Baptist Preacher. I told both him and my Mom what CT and BQ stood for. they didn't have a problem with it.

Interesting trivia. When I was in school, we would get warned by LTC Haney to refrain from singing the BQ song during the playing of "Rice Honor". Must of s did anyway, albeit under our breath.

CBatt- if you were CBatt CO and a parent of a prospective fish came up to you and wanted to know what BQ meant, that wouldn't have made you slightly uncomfortable?

why would it? I think band queer and band f a g are pretty universal even at the HS level...at least it was at my HS
