I just spoke to my mother in TC and she said her house shook and they live several miles from the plants. My dad works at a bank in Galveston and he said the building shook...

A good friend of mine's dad works at that station...they're still waiting to hear from him. Please keep everyone out there in your prayers.

My dad used to work at MArathon Oil and finally retired about 5 years ago due to health issues. I am so glad he doesn't work there anymore. Since he started there, there was a lighting strike on a storage tank that erupted (around 1980-81), small explosion that killed one(around 87), the HCl acid leak (around 88) and now this. Like I said, glad he no longer works there.

Interestingly, BP had an explosion at a Texas City plant last March as well.

I work in Oil and Gas and it's just a sick feeling you get in your stomach when you hear about this. Our salesman who calls on BP can't get ahold of about 10 of his contacts at the plant.

I live on the west side of Texas City and was outside talking to the postman when the explosion happened. Definately shook the ground and there was no doubt it was at one of the plants.

Since this was at a gasoline refinery, don't be surprised if you see a corresponding spike in oil prices. The mere threat to our refining capacity can have repercussions.

This refinery supplied about 30% of oil for BP stations. Dont see many BP in Texas but I saw alot in Oklahoma, Kansas and Colorado.

My cousin works at the plant (COSC class of 2003) and he is fine. They shut the plant down, so he left for the beer store.

well, I had a total of 15 family (and extended family members) there at the time of the explosion...7 have been accounted for so far...

I can't find jack about it with the exception of the link posted on this thread. CNN did mention it on the ticker that scrolls on the bottom of the screen but didn't say much at all.

but not much else...Fox has broken into programming a couple times but that's it and the item on their site is pathetic
