Debatable. Santa Fe Mexican food is very overrated.


It's terrible.

Except when the Hatch chiles are available. You can make almost anything edible if you smother it it Hatch chile sauce.

Also, never have I thought to myself after dining at Taco Bell, "Man, I'm sure glad I did that." I'll eat there once every other year or so to remind myself why I only eat there once every other year or so.

When I go there maybe once a month I still get the double decker taco. I just order it and pay a little more than a regular taco.

I worked at Taco Bell as a high schooler in 1990.
Anybody remember the $0.39, $0.59, $0.79 menu?

And obviously I remember the Enchirito, though if they're not putting black olives on it, is it really the Enchirito?
My fave menu item as a teenager was the Chilito. Though now, as a 52 year old codger, the thought of what one of those would do to my stomach and bunghole these days scares me quite frankly.

I was just in the Elgin Taco Bell last week and heard the staff talking about how much of an ass "that guy Slicer is"

Fun fact.

Supposedly Taco Casa is what original Taco Bell tasted like before Pepsi bought it.

A guy had a large franchise of Taco Bells and didn't want to sell to Pepsi so he changed the name to Taco Casa and kept the food the same.

Pepsi changed Taco Bell to make it cheaper and easier to mass produce so the taste of the food changed.

That's pretty impressive, given I've never stopped in at the Taco Bell in Elgin. Hell, it's probably been 2 years since I've even stopped anywhere in Elgin.

Your sister must be about 60 years old to meet that criteria. Pepsi owned Taco Bell for a really long time

hell yes, that was our Sunday go to place when i was in the FTAB. Plus that was about the only place open on Sundays

Taco Casa has the full old school Taco Bell menu. They call their version the chilada. Plus they fry their stuff in coconut oil. No seed oils and great taste.

I've had Taco Bell three times in the past 15 years, all within a month when they did the decades menu and brought the meximelt back. Though it costed 3 dollars instead of the dollar it did when I was in HS (where I'd slam 3 after basketball practice before going home to whatever my mom cooked), I still ate 3-4 a trip a couple years ago and got the nostalgia I needed.

I've eaten at Taco Bell maybe two or three times in my life. Can't remember what I ever got.

But my wife loves her some Taco Casa! We don't have any in the San Antonio area, so whenever we go to visit Mom in College Station, we have to stop by. She gets crispy tacos for there, and takes a Chilada to go.

Around home, we both like Las Palapas and Taco Palenque, plus the myriad of mom and pop Tex-Mex places.

I cannot disagree, but Santa Fe is full of excellent restaurants.

Occasionally, I am lured into a SF Mexican food restaurant by tasty Margaritas.

My spouse got one the other day and said there used to be 2 in an order. I ordered extra olives for her and was told also they no longer had olives.
