I was picking up a co-worker from the airport late this morning and he needed food. He requested the nearby Taco Bell and we went to the drive through.

I was surprised to see the Enchirito was available for a limited time.

Yes, I ordered one for me. Aside from the lack of the black olive garnish, it tasted like my old man nostaligia remembered.

It might have been bigger 25 years ago though <that's what she said>

Taco Bell flour tortillas are inedible, but this did give me the inspiration to DIY it at Mexican restaurants. Just order a bean and cheeses taco and a crispy beef taco then assemble. Thanks TB for the proof of concept

There isn't one close to me anymore, but I actually went thru a Taco Bell on Saturday in another town and forgot to try the Enchirito.

It was my favorite once upon a time.

This is correct.

In 2006 I was at a Taco Cabana and ordered a DD taco and they said, "that's Taco Bell".

I encouraged them, "don't worry. You can do this!"

They did it and it was actually far and away better than Taco Bell's version.

Will have to try at Las Palapas.

I believe the first time I did this was at taco cabana as well....before they went downhill. It works well with Las Palapas because the green sauce. Blanco Cafe is my go-to over in the med center.

I had two at lunch today.

Just order it confidently. If they say they don't have it anymore, tell them yes you do. Crunchy taco, add beans, and tortilla.

No self assembly required.

I had 3 of them after a Van Halen concert sitting on the floor of the Erwin Center in a cloud of smoke. And no, don't think my body would react to one very well now.

My first recollection is from when I was a kid in the 1970s. Back then they had black olives on top. Nowadays they are an intermittent offering kind of like McRib and McDonald's except they don't suck like McRib

I thought the other guy in the Patrick Duffy commercial looked familiar. Turns out it was a character actor named Bill Cort who was in a bunch of stuff in the 80's, including Dallas.

The way it was marketed back in my youth 50 years ago was that it was that it was the best things about a burrito and an enchilada in one meal. Take a burrito and fill it with beans AND taco meat and onions, cover it with enchilada sauce and cheese, and tip it off with some black olives.

It was my go-to at Taco Bell for many years back when I still ate a lot of Taco Bell.
