I can't believe that thing Radar said at the end.

And I heard a rumor that Wayne Rogers isn't happy being second fiddle to Alan Alda.
Might have two new regulars for season 4!

A correction. I thought about it, and Jamie Farr was also made a regular in season 4. At least, that's when his name was added in the opening credits. That would be three new series regulars.

There's something about part of the cast not knowing what would happen to the plane, which was shot down, over the Sea of Japan, and spun in, with no survivors, so they're shocked faces were genuine. Ditto for the instrument hitting the floor.

Spoiler Alert: General Bartford Hamilton Steele (that's three E's) is gonna get treated for his dementia and will come back undercover as a new CO.

Supposedly only Burghoff and Alda had seen the last page of the script prior to the scene being filmed.

It is a generational thing. It bridged the gap between the Greatest Generation who fought for our country yet found the army stupid and Baby Boomers who just found the army stupid. Great show, just dated at this point

One of the best recurring characters on the show. Better than Sidney Freeman

The Captain Tuttle episode was one of my favorites. I always thought that character should have found his way into another episode down the line.

Hate to break it to you, Yokel, but Lt Dish never returns after 2 episodes of season 1 (even though she is one of the nurses running to the copters in the opening theme - for the entire series). As a teenager , I was in love with her...

We watched the episode the other night where Jack Soo was. Korean hustler (the one where the traded Henry Blake's oak desk for medical supplies).

Jack Soo was a legend. My father and I were big Barney Miller fans, too.

Barney Miller may be the most underrated sitcom of all time. They were all so good as well as the writing. Don't make TV shows like that anymore (unfortunately).

If you didn't know, that was a take off of the Russian Lieutenant Kiji fable.

I only discovered Barney Miller last summer. I actually watched every episode in a three week stretch in August. I read that it was an extremely difficult show to work on. Extensive rewriting during shooting meant that shooting went on until 3 AM.

I thought they were all great but he (Vigoda) was apparently a real pain to deal with in real life.

That's what I meant - the contract stuff. I liked his character but he seemed to think it was THE show - it wasn't.
