You know you have a good employee when she stays late on Friday evening for a truck to arrive that has perishable items. I write "sorry you had to stay late (and especially on a Friday)" and she responds "it's okay, it had to get done" - that's a keeper employee!!

There's some great ones out there!

Agreed. But, as with any generation, group, etc. there are some really great ones and keepers. And I found one! She'll go far. Never lump everyone into a single group and singular characteristics!

Small potatoes. Yes, all on the table but all are short term appreciation. Better to groom for a better position and help her find it if I don't have available in my company at the time.

Yes…. "appreciation" and "groom" for a better "position" all words I have used before for girl employees who stayed late for some extra work.

Make sure to load her up with ore works while you don't hold lower performing employees accountable. Also, give her a meager bonus.

Life is tough. It is even harder when you have to pick up the slack for other people. She needs to learn

I'm kind of in the same boat. The kids coming out of high school these days (not all) seem to have more snap and have their expectations based more in reality. Refreshing change from the last 10 years. Right now, if you are 25-40... I have very low expectations.

Yes. And, besides having incredible work ethic she has brains and is very pretty. She also has the most adorable daughter she had with a loser who she regrets being with but without that mistake she wouldn't have her daughter. The father thinks bringing over potato chips is a good dad. I have a daughter a little younger who also is very smart and very pretty.

This last week a child rapist on the sex offender list (who's 67j) has been watching when my vehicle is not there. We had banned him way before she was there from being on our property (because he was always belligerent to me or my other guy at the time). She knows this now but he'd been coming in to buy things and offering to bring her lunches. He called the other day with a "do you know who this is" and "can I bring you some food" - she's savvy and comes from a rough family and neighborhood so she knew something wasn't right and was super polite in rejecting his advances. It was a pure "here little girl, want some candy" - the guy served two stints in prison. He deserves to rot in a desolate field - better yet the garbage dump.

It's shameful how an attractive young woman can't live her life without creeps hitting on them. I'm not calling you a creep but as my daughter and employee are entering that age, it has enlightened me more - I knew it happened but never to the magnitude I'm seeing now.

Not a bar but my daughter worked at a restaurant for a while. Similar types but of course the bar would be worse as the guys are drinking/drunk.

Was out of town on a business trip. If I'd been in town she'd have gone home and I would stay,
