I'd like to set up my cd player and turntable in our new basement 'lounge' (we still have all of our physical media). My goal is to be able to play it through an alexa device, like echo.. is this possible? We also have the echo controlling lighting in that room, so having one device do both would be idea.

If not, surely I can plop in a cd or vinyl and have it convert and be played through a modern wireless speaker(s)?

It would be sweet if I could just walk in and say "Alexa, press play on the cd player" but I'm thinking that isn't possible. Next best is to just turn on cd player and hit play, and it plays through an echo.

As far as wireless speakers, I have my turntable connected to my soundbar via Bluetooth. Works great.

ooh that actually gives me an idea, I could do that too since our tv/soundbar room is just the next room over and in the main area of basement.

Do you use some device? My components are old school, red/white audio cables.

My turntable is a newer setup with Bluetooth connectivity. But you could probably find something that could connect that way.

If you're willing to spend $100 or so get a part 15 transmitter and wire your cd player/etc to that then you can just use a regular boombox or whatever. Or get a usb audio interface like a focusrite scarlett 2i2 or somesuch

Echo devices have an aux in port.

Don't know about CDs and all that but I just did your exact set up with my laserdisc player and it works like a charm!
