Sourdough is my bread and butter on days when I'm loafing around. It can be a real culture shock when starting, but don't get crusty. But youll get the hang of it and youre on a roll. Worth every crumb of effort.

Funny you should ask. My wife is working on a sourdough starter. She's on her third version now. The first two did not work. Anyone have a fail proof recipe for a starter?

I have two starters which were given to me from family recipes. I'd recommend she ask her friends.

I buy mine from breadtopia. They work great. Pretty fool proof.

I bake sourdough bread at least weekly. Happy to help with any questions. A great source for info is The Sourdough Journey website. The guy makes stuff very easy to understand.

Another pro tip is to use einkorn flour. Blood sugar won't spike

My wife's been making sourdough since COVID and has gotten us to the point where we bake 1-2 loaves a week and don't buy bread anymore. The flip side is a bag of flour lasts like 10 days. But it's nice having fresh bread that has like 3 or 4 ingredients, and it is really good.

And as someone mentioned once you have your starter going you can make all sorts of stuff. She's made the normal sourdough, sandwich bread, pizza dough, cinnamon buns, biscuits, focaccia, and probably some others I've forgotten.
