The conditions of my parole include not shopping at Costco.

I got a membership a few years ago to buy a TV and kept it to keep the warranty going. I get brake even value from it just buying my TP, paper towels and coffee but I just order that online and have it shipped. I only go into the store two or three times a year when they have a gift card on sale for a place I was going to spend money on anyways.

I think they always have Landry's gift cards in store for 20% off so just buying those is enough to keep the membership.

I do shop at Costco, but not a fanatic.

However, I love COST. My single 5 figure purchase in fall of 2017 is up 6.5X, roughly 30% per year. If that continues for 15 more years when I retire, I'll be sitting on $3m.+

In the store, we get their TP/paper towels/napkins, chimichangas, their chicken bake sandwiches, bags of popcorn, granola bars, nuts, chips, wine/beer.
Also usually once a year we'll get clothes. They have great prices on kids winter stuff.

We don't venture into the fresh stuff as much. And never the meat.. it seems pricey to me, but I am one who only buys meat on sale at a regular store. I get ground beef for $3 or less, ribeyes or sirloins for $5-$7/lb, shrimp for $6, chicken for $2. I don't think costco meat is that cheap, although admittedly I haven't looked in a while.

Costco is rich man's Sam's. I do either depending on who I think I am at the moment.

There is nothing i need at costco. everytime you walk in its $200+. bulk is stupid and fresh foods go bad before we can use them. With HEB now here and 2, soon to be 3 within driving distance we just shop at HEB click list multiple times a week.

walking the stores means you spend more. we buy what we need online and pick it up.

I might be able to tolerate costco a little more if it wasn't and parking lot nightmare 24/7 and a bunch of inconsiderate jackwagons blocking the aisles with no spatial awareness.

I piggyback off my sister's costco membership and i do use it for gas regularly. no wait for a pump on my commute to work.

That's the Costco I joined at. I had no idea that it was the largest and assumed they were all similar. All other Costco's I've been to are a disappointment compared to Salt Lake.

We rarely 'walk' the aisles at costco. Go with a list.

Bought a 16# prime brisket last week for $4.29 / lb from Costco. Last three briskets I bought were from our new HEB. I will admit to being dazzled by HEB's nice fancy meat market. I will not make that mistake again next time I am smoking a brisket.

Got prescription sunglasses from Costco. Really like them when I'm driving on a sunny day. So much cheaper than other places I looked.

I find there's a weird tension at Costco where everyone in the parking lot drives unusually aggressive then you get in the store and everyone is sort of oblivious to their surroundings.

I hate that place. My wife doesn't seem to understand that buying the 8 pound package of food is not cheaper when half of it either goes bad or goes in the freezer and doesn't ever get eaten. Or that buying the 3x bag or chips and us eating the whole bag is not better than eating a regular size in the same time frame, even if it's slightly cheaper per unit. I'm fine with buying non-perishables there, assuming you actually need them. On top of that is a mad house in there.

Blue Laws did not say that you couldn't be open on Sunday. You just had to be closed on one day during the weekend. Nearly every store picked Saturday to stay open.

Texas liquor laws require the stores to be closed on Sundays not either or. You don't need a membership to go to the Costco Liquor store. You can buy beer and wine in Costco with membership but have to go to the store outside Monday through Saturday for liquor.

In other states the laws are different so they keep a similar setup in most stores so they don't have to close off a section inside the stores. For example Tennessee changed the law a few years ago allowing grocery stores to sell wine. This caused immediate lawsuits from liquor stores that were previously the only place you could get wine and were required to be closed on Sundays. As a result you can now buy liquor on Sundays there.

I don't believe that is even legal. Even an inside the store purchase of beer in a costco, they can't require you have a membership.

In colorado, costcos no longer have an outside liquor store the beer/wine/liquor is in the store. They were never even owned by costco anyway, they were independent stores.

In fact, (not sure if just CO??), any liquor store can sell kirkland brand beer/wine/liquor. There are laws that prevent only costco from selling it.

I know the ones in Houston are WB Liquors. Not sure about membership for buying inside.

Kirkland Signature ProCare infant formula. Half the price of Enfamil with the same ingredients.

I tolerate Costco. I really liked it when it first opened in Sugar Land, but only being able to go on weekends has soured me on the in-store experience.

I buy some of the food items already mentioned, but it's some of the other stuff that really adds value to my membership.

Tires- their price on tires makes it worth the hassle and they come with free lifetime rotation and balancing. And they're generous in applying the warranty if you have a blowout.
Contact Lenses- high quality contacts at budget contact prices
Prescription meds- i only take a couple of meds but their price on them is half of everywhere else
Rental Cars- when I travel I have found that the price through Costco is the best priced rental cars out there, better than AAA
I haven't used their other travel services but in talking to those who have they are first rate properties at budget prices.

This is a complaint about your wife, right? Costco is just selling ****, whether it's a good deal or not.

Nobody goes to Costco. It's too busy.

My dog has Cushing's and requires a refill on meds every three weeks. Costco has the pills for about $30 cheaper than Chewy, which was cheaper than my vet. So that's $30+ savings at least once a month.

We've taken one Costco vacation before to Mexico and it was awesome. We got montezuma's revenge, but the vacation was a steal, included flights, and we got a $200 Costco gift card

It was also during pandemic so everything was cheaper
