I hate that place. My wife doesn't seem to understand that buying the 8 pound package of food is not cheaper when half of it either goes bad or goes in the freezer and doesn't ever get eaten. Or that buying the 3x bag or chips and us eating the whole bag is not better than eating a regular size in the same time frame, even if it's slightly cheaper per unit. I'm fine with buying non-perishables there, assuming you actually need them. On top of that is a mad house in there.

Maybe you should suck it up and eat more before it goes bad or put in the freezer. Or maybe have more teen boys that play sports in your house that eat everything.

I like Sam's better anyway because it is closer to me.

I love Costco, but I can't let my wife shop there alone.

I could live without it but for the few things that the prices are so much cheaper than anywhere else I love them. Avocado oil, olive oil, maple sryup and Irish butter and laundry detergent and paper products. Sometimes strawberries. My kids can't go through the quantity of snacks before they get old so that doesn't help.

I might shop at Costco if they were closer but they are 25 minutes away and Sam's is 2 minutes away.

Meat, fruit, eggs, healthy snacks. Love the organic options there and we like to buy in bulk. We live in a rural area so we stock up when we go to the city.

I do really enjoy it. Our regular:

Fruit (usually the pre-cut fruit bowl).
Grapes
Dots pretzels
Protein drinks
Chomps beef jerky
Rotisserie chicken (sometimes - gonna get one tonight)
Snacky stuff (granola bars, individual packages of the oreo/ritz/chips a hoy things)
Some frozen meal stuff

I don't ever buy the meat, I don't cook enough.

I think that's where the flea market is now. I have my own line of fleas, so I have no experience going there.

In the 70's they had tv ads that ended with "Choppers World! Open Sunday!"

They sold a lot of stuff on Sunday you couldn't get anywhere else due to Blue Laws. Not sure how they got away with it.

Under the old laws, I think there were some items you couldn't sell seven days a week. They may well have blocked those off on Tuesday. I vaguely remember the old Kroger in Temple doing that.

Mostly Competitive Eating. I don't raise no losers.

There were absolutely things you couldn't buy on Sundays.

Except at Choppers World.

We have three teenagers so for certain food items we will eat it all in a reasonable time frame. I can see how singles or empty nesters would be less interested in the bulk size of a lot of their food. Our new HEB is better for high end steaks so far. Love the cheaper gas.

Not only do I shop at Costco, but I shop at the world's largest Costco. I am talking lamb carcasses hanging in the freezer for that impromptu luau when relatives from the islands pop over for a visit. Probably sells 5-packs of big screen TVs if I checked. I love the place, although it can be a madhouse.

Some of our regular items include:
Guacamole singles
Chili roasted pistachios
chocolate quinoa crisps
Siete cookies
Just Bare chicken nuggets
Motor City Pizza (best frozen pizza I've ever had)
Gary's frozen steak for steak sandwiches
refrigerated gyro meat

$5 rotisserie chicken is the best deal going right now.

This, Scan&Go is awesome. I have Sam's and Costco cards and 9 times out of 10 when I go to Costco I leave without buying anything and drive the Block to Sam's. I don't think I have ever left Sam's without purchasing something. Costco Liquor is nice, and you don't need a membership to purchase there.

We buy gas at a Costco. Sometimes we will go inside and buy non perishable items that we need.
