The idea of fat-shaming is a contentious one, and it's essential to consider the broader implications. While some argue that public accountability might motivate healthier choices, shaming often leads to negative consequences like low self-esteem and mental health issues. Instead of fostering a supportive environment, it could push individuals away from seeking help.

Promoting healthy habits through encouragement and education might be a more effective approach. Creating a culture that emphasizes well-being rather than shame could lead to better outcomes for everyone. What do you think? Can we inspire change without resorting to shame?

What you say sounds good in theory but generates zero results that you want.

Encouragement and education, no one cares. Maybe a few of us but we are talking about an entire population of people. Millions and millions.

The only way is to go back to the basics. Fat shaming. Once it becomes acceptable to laugh at fatties, society will change. Now fatness is "celebrated" and called "healthy" in some circles and some cultures shake their big fat booties and call it "pretty".

Shame works.

With GLP-1's available there's really no reason for anyone to be fat in 2024

McD Quarter Pointers have ebola in them according to today's news!

Hope this is a disincentive for the fatties.

Whatever works.

I don't know about OP's question, but fat celebrating should definitely stop!

As a fat ass, I agree with this. But I also don't approve of fat shaming. Just do you and leave others alone. Seems pretty simple.
I would agree, but unfortunately peoples' poor health choices cause healthcare costs to rise for everyone.

Like smokers? And alcoholics? But congrats on falling for that old line. It's cute that you think having no fat people would save you money on your insurance.

But what if I am concerned about your health and don't want you to die at 45? You obviously won't stop stuffing your face every day so the only way I can think of is to laugh at you and shame you.

Using psychology to get medical results.

I'm already past that so stop worrying your pretty little head about me. Appreciate the concern, though.

Can't wait to see the results of your shame-based research…

Junk food is intentionally hard to resist.
Telling them to move more and eat less ain't working.

Was looking at old photos of people back in the 1950s & 1960s. No one was fat in the photos.

Right, but how many of them smoked? Smoking is an appetite suppressant and can increase your metabolism. Why do you think so many models smoke?

Not sure if shaming is the right path forward, but the fat acceptance movement needs to stop. Of course, I rail on Elko since he represents us on TV. For several million a year, I'd work on it harder.

Of course, I admit I have a bias since I lost a lot of weight. Of an old man like me can do it, anyone can.

So is smoking. Most people don't smoke because society by in large doesn't tolerate it.

Maybe we can start designating areas as fat free instead of giving them two airplane seats.

This is primarily an American problem. If you travel to Europe, you rarely see anyone morbidly obese like you do here. We just eat too damn much and not the right kind of food either. The rest of the world jokes about American sized portions.

No fast food, everyone ate at home 99% of the time. Also less crap in the grocery stores.

Maybe you can enlighten me on why society doesn't tolerate smoking, if not the fact that it's harmful to other people.
