Doctors recommend people not be fat AF but no one is following that advice take Ozympic because it's easier that exercising and eating right and there's no $$$ in preventative medicine.

Ozempic may result in an "I am Legend" scenario in 50 years, but if you're fat AF and not willing to otherwise lose weight it is more likely to saver your life than a flu shot by many orders of magnitude.
My concern isn't with the extreme 600 lb Fatty McGee who needs a drastic change. It's with the doctors wanting to shoot up 6 year old fatties b/c mommy shovels processed foods down their throats. Also, the fact that taxpayers are gonna be funding it.

Are there really doctors prescribing GLP-1's to children? The handful of adults I know who are on one spend a lot of time and effort managing the unpleasant side effects. I can't imagine putting a kid through that.

Flu shot is just not very effective. Roughly 35% efficacy which is pretty pathetic relative to the traditional vaccines that are most 90%+

For my patients I only encourage flu on high risk kids like infants under 12 months or asthma kids.

I get it due to the fact that I am going to be exposed multiple times and will do what I can to not miss a week of clinic.

I also got the novavax for COVID, seems to be significantly more effective than the mRNA vaccines.

Don't they aim each year's flu vaccine at the strains expected……..then get fooled when an oddball one roars into the picture?
They make it to defend what is circulating in China/Australia and hope it doesn't change. It often does though.

If you're vaccinated for "Type A", and encounter "Type B", does it help at all? How good is the pneumonia shot?
Being in TexAgs jail changes a man……..no, not really

I mostly just do what my doctor recommends. Similarly, when one of my cars needs a repair, I listen to the mechanic and usually do what's recommended for the repair.
Baaaaaaa
Baaaaaaaaa

Your mechanic knows more about cars than the average doctor knows about the human body, health, nutrition, and prevention. Most family doctors are trying to keep the lights on. They have to deal in volume, bill as many patients as possible, and take care of overhead. It's not like they are on the forefront of the latest research.
So we're not supposed to listen to our doctors now? Lol

Doctors recommend people not be fat AF but no one is following that advice- that should be the political issue.Tax rate should be your BMI.

Many doctors are fatties too, unfortunately.

Ah a doc in the house!

What is your medical opinion on adults who are generally healthy who don't take annual flu shots?
Do you recommend taking it as a precaution?

if your doctor is a fat that's on you. Medicine is not the same thing as health. Med school doesnt even claim to be about health.

No I do not. Only high risk groups IMO.

The shot this year is trivalent, it has two type A strains and one type B. The last several years they had 2 A and 2 B but they found one of the B strains wasn't circulating any longer so they took it out.

I don't get flu shots and haven't had the flu in 20 years
Same.

Well, that's not technically true. I apparently get the flu every year, I just never show symptoms. I haven't been sick really since I hit puberty. 1989 was the last time I ever missed work or school.

I've been enrolled in a testing program for about 4 years (started during Covid) where I go in every 3 months to get my blood checked for antibodies. I've gotten Covid a bunch of times, I get the flu every year, I've had strep twice, & I've had a few other things under various names that essentially fall under the category of "common cold." They just have relatiely no noticeable effect on me for some reason.

So no, I don't get flu vaccines.
