From what I've seen even successful white men have an issue with it. And they should. DEI is in place to help people that can't get by on merit or ability. Diversity isn't a strength. It isn't a positive. It's nothing. And should be nothing.

Lord knows that privileged white men have NEVER been put into positions that they don't deserve...

Playing the odds, depending on the particular job?

Maybe not incompetent, but quite possibly less than the best option that was available, which is a compounding opportunity cost going forward.

by definition. If a person is being hired because they're diverse they are not being hired because they're competent. There can be overlap, sure, but intentionally prioritizing anything over competency definitionally means your weeding out competence intentionally.

I have asked this of women when they scream about the need for diversity and how a woman's perspective can improve things. But no one has been able to show me how and give me real world examples.

I would like a women to start a company and hire only women. Go ahead, discriminate against men all you want. Show that you can turn it into an Apple a Google or an Amazon or Tesla. Go right ahead.

No woman will take up the challenge. Because they want a ready-made winner. They don't want the struggle to create one. Same with all the other "disadvantaged" groups who play victim. They want all the plum high paying jobs but not the low paying or dirty/dangerous ones.

Since no one is posted the context, I'll try to explain it. Ubisoft is a major, major, major game developer.

They own some of the more lucrative IP in the game industry including the Tom Clancy games, Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, etc. They were one of the most respected brands in the industry.

Their last two major release games went full woke.

They decided to create a Star Wars game. The lead writer, who is a female, initially designed the game with a male lead in mind. Ubisoft Executives overruled them and told them they had to create a game with a character that is dark skinned female. Then they made her androgynous. This is an open world RPG where you go in explore and meet people similar to GTA or Skyrim. Instead of focusing on gameplay elements they chose to make it impossible for your character to steal, kill, or otherwise harm anyone but the designated bad guys. It basically takes a lot of the fun elements of this style game and neuters them. Most people would have overlooked the lead being a caricature but the game itself absolutely sucks and is not fun.

Their next release is worse. They created an Assassin's Creed set in feudal Japan. Guess who one of the main characters is? A black guy. That's right folks. They made a samurai, one of the most important figures in Japanese culture...black. And not just any samurai. He's portraying a real, historical Japanese person.

The Japanese outcry against this game is significant but Ubisoft has already invested tens if not hundreds of millions of dollars into developing this one and they can't go back and change it. They are announcing a 3-month delay to try to figure out how to fix the character. This game may end up bankrupting the company.

Their stock price is down to a decade low until Friday as buyout rumors surfaced.

And apparently another one of the lead people on the game design is avidly anti-gun and has gone on X rants about how much he hates guns in video games.
