All the time. I work for a tech company so it's very accurate. Silicon valley too.

Mike Judge knows how to tell the real story.

You just need to wear more flair! Try more than the minimum.

More and more everyday. My company is going through restructuring with help from Bain and a couple other consultants. Can't wait for my meeting with the Bobs where I get to talk about my multiple bosses and to answer loaded questions like what would make my job simpler/easier.

What if - and believe me this is a hypothetical - but what if you were offered some kind of a stock option equity sharing program. Would that do anything for you?
I don't know I guess … listen I'm gonna go

yeah...I'm cooked. Thinking about starting a lawn mowing business to stay busy. Maybe fall isn't the best time to start this.

You gotta have an agent first before any publisher will talk with you. That's not to say your idea is the worst I've seen.
I've ghostwritten at least 10 books whose central ideas are tied for first as the worst idea for a book I've ever head.

You're probably not putting cover sheets on your TPS reports.

I once wrote 220,000 words on a time-traveling teenage ninja, so yeah, there's a chance.

I feel less like Peter from Office Space and more like Joe from Idiocracy every day.

Mike Judge just gets it.

I want to be like how Hank Hill was with propane. Dude loved his job and was so passionate about it. My job is the exact opposite.

The closer I get to retirement, the more I feel like Peter.

I could retire today, but the money is too easy. However, my givafuct is pretty low. I used to bust my ass, hoping to be rewarded. But that brought pennies on the dollar for my efforts while the owner of our company flaunted new cars, vacation home and other indulgences.

Exactly how I feel, I go to work work do my job with as little effort as possible, enough so I don't get in trouble and go home. Looking for new job with better pay right now but I doubt my mindset will change

Easy for me to say, but as someone who is 50 and has been blessed to have been gainfully employed over the past 26 years, it's less about what you do. You have to find some sort of joy in what you do, or who benefits from your work.

I essentially had a 3 year career doing something, followed by 17 years doing something a little different, now 6 years doing something similar to my first 3 years. It comes down to how can you help something or someone. For example, a pilot doesn't fly planes. He provides transportation so people can take vacations, get to business meetings, or visit loved ones.

Stealing this from Simon Sinek, but change your WHY.
