Have a good that said her pit was an angel. Followed her everywhere. Slept on her bed. One day it flipped. She luckily got in her bathroom and had the call the police. It's dead, now

Someone in my distant family owns pit/lab mix and their son owns 2 and a pit mix.

They went down to visit with their pit/lab mix and it came home with a bunch of stiches and was almost killed.
This same dog is overly alpha and just has the blank stare as if none is home that pitbulls all have. It has tried starting fights with my two dogs. Pisses me off. HATE pitbulls

Only takes one momentary lapse to change someone's life forever. The vast majority of dog owners have quite a few shortcomings. It's not just the obviously crappy owners that are an issue

My family has owned around 10 over the years. 1 was the stereotypical bad dog, and it was bad from puppy all the way to a year old before it was given away. Just aggressive and too energetic. Proverbial screw-loose animal. It was eventually shot by the cops to noone's surprise.

All of the others have been great dogs. One black-sheep member of the family even tried to make his dogs "tough" but they were the sissiest dogs I've ever seen. Luckily he was too dumb to realize that if he spent virtually every minute of every day with his dogs that they just wouldn't develop that aggressive or violent tendency.

To me, pit bulls are like pistols. They are dangerous in the wrong hands, and I believe the owners should be held 100% accountable for negligent ownership. But I'm 100% against either being banned. Owner of the 2 dogs that killed the person should be charged with at least negligent homicide and maybe murder. I think you will fix most of the problem dogs if you actually hold owners responsible for their animals.

Physical strength and ignoring pain, never letting go of what they bite. I mean, that's the dog, not the owner.

It really doesn't matter how determined a Yorkie is for example, it is not going to do the damage a pit bull does.

Why own a dog like that outside of a ghetto?

I was bitten by a friends pit mutt dog growing up. Some half pit bull mix. I can't trust them, my guard goes up when I'm near them, I start feeling adrenaline and my heart racing. It's a mild ptsd response.

Some good news involving what looks like a pit or pit mix.

He is a rescue and saved his elderly owner from an attack by some naked whacko neighbor. In the video it shows the brick the attacker used to beat the elderly man. Looks like a landscaping masonry brick of some sort.

In this case, the dog grabbing and holding on was a good thing.

Many years back my dad had the first K-9 units in the county. A trainer from Lackland AFB and a PD LEO did all the training, if I remember right.
This is way before the Malinois came on the scene and they almost exclusively used German Shepherds and Labs. The labs were strictly narcotic detection.
They made remarks that the two breeds that would turn on their handlers sometimes were Dobermans and Rottweilers.
Of course, back then they did nothing with pits.
