For about 7 years I was involved with the quarterly new hire training program for our sales teams. During that time, I trained 800 Systems Engineers and the students were about 5% female. So not a lot of opportunity for hi-jinks.
I did have one pleasantly plump 5'11" gal with massive cans who was flirting with me the whole time and there was definitely some opportunity but when part of her sales pitch is that her husband was a Marine, nah, I don't think so. Then a couple years later, I saw her and her husband at a Sales Kickoff in Vegas and it was really awkward. We hugged like we were old friends or something and I shook the dude's hand but never said, hey buddy, your wife definitely made herself available. Maybe he already knew, who knows.
We did some combined training with the Sales Account Execs and there were probably 2x the number of Sales Reps vs. SEs and maybe 25% of th Sales Reps were female.
The first day of the combined training course always ended with dinner at this crappy Mexican joint within walking distance of the office and the hotel. Needless to say, free food (even if it was crappy) and free drinks got people lubed up pretty well. Then the only high cost activity we did was at one point during dinner the Worldwide Sales Leader would make a speech and we'd do a shot of Patron. Maybe 150+ people at these dinners.
I saw one hookup between a male SE and a female AE where they just couldn't keep their hands off each other. It was really awkward because it was so over the top. There was always lots of flirting by the females in this male dominated group but that was the only one that was just out of control.
The other one that was ridiculous was the time one guy got kicked out of the training due to a sexual harassment issue.
Apparently during the first day, this SE guy took a liking to one of the sales gals. And during the whole Mexican dinner and Patron shot, he felt like they were hitting it off. He gets her phone number and the texting/sexting commences.
The story I got from one of the gals who was involved with kicking him out was that they texted back and forth a little bit and then, he sent her a ridiculous number of texts like 200 messages all night begging her to come to his room, etc. When this girl told me the guy sent a ridiculous number of text messages, I thought it was going to be like 10 or 20. When she said 200, I was like, how is that even possible?
Now the corporate sales kickoffs in Vegas, that's a whole different chapter.
