These 2 people next to me at the bar say they are just coworkers but I thought they were an item and I mentioned that and they both were nervously like "uhhhh no a lot of people think that." Uh-huh.

The amount of untoward behavior I experienced during work travel was insane. You develop very tactful blocks. Old men are brazen.

I've worked at two firms in my career. I can think of at least 4 hook ups of co-workers during work travel and / or after a work happy hour. All resulted in divorces of at least one of the participants, impacting families with kids Two resulted in new marriages of the former coworkers.

Some people just have a tough time avoiding temptation and understanding the potential consequences, which are mostly bad.

Listen to the man. Two marriages ruined here. Four kids between the two families with ruined lives.

Traveling with old men when I was in my 20s and early 30s was just awful. As you say, you do eventually learn how to outmaneuver them, but it was so annoying that they couldn't just behave like decent humans.

Thank god I'm self-employed now, and while 90% of my employees are male, and we do travel together, they like getting paid so they generally mind their manners, or at least they do when I'm present.

Maybe there was some sexual tension between them that was very visible. He was making advances and she was blushing etc. I have seen that happen and while they don't realize it is obvious, it is to everyone else.

Maybe they are road warriors working on the same client and spending a lot of time together.

I used to work at a consulting company about 20+ years ago. 4 partners. My boss was the technical guy and gruff, low social skills and somewhat racist. The partner who was the marketing/sales guy was the smooth ladies man type. He had a special voice he would put on while talking to the ladies. The charmer. His wife was a plain Jane and homely. So we would get news that this guy would hook up with the account management ladies of the clients where he would place us. Then I left the company 20 years ago. I see him on Facebook, he has moved to Austin and married to a new younger woman. I found his wife on FB too, she has maintained contact with the other partners but he's broken ties.

I have gone on business trips to do demos, and I must admit, some of the ladies dress up very attractively and it is obvious they are looking to get male attention. It is easy to go to the bar, have a few drinks, get a little too cozy with one thing leading up to the other. But I stayed away from all those and I am happy I did.

The whole idea of cheating is anathema to me.

That being said, I do regret a phrase that I innocently once used when speaking to a female co-worker.

She had a problem with one of the linux machines that she was working on and asked me for help. She described the problem but the description wasn't enough to diagnose the problem, so I said something like "I think I'm going to have to get on your box."

Right after saying that, I thought, I shouldn't have said it that way. I was sort of glad that she was not a native English speaker because she probably had no idea of a possible double entendre.

I think "box" is limited to internet nerd colloquialism. I wouldn't worry about it, most native speakers wouldn't have gotten it either.

I appreciate the sentiment, but being unmarried, I can't get behind this 100%.

Considering I'm not a cheating POS, none as far as I'm concerned.

Filthy behavior. Unsurprising to see some of the usernames here that do it.

Don't have sex with women who aren't your wife. It's just functional advice. I didn't follow this advice before I was married, definitely should have.

Lol sorry for a late update. Well I talked to them some more after that and they had several drinks in the time I had 2 but they never got touchy or handsy with each other so they could have been telling the truth. After I ate I left so I don't know….the REST of the story lol. But it has just crossed my mind and so I had to get a Texags opinion so here we are lol. Thanks for the replies and yes don't cheat on your wife.

? I don't think I read anyone that said that they had personally done it, advocated it, etc.

There were some jokes, sure. But, c'mon man.

I've heard some stories of a former coworker who behaved like this around women when traveling in the last few years and I was flabbergasted. Not that it was ever excusable, but it's 2020, not 1980 anymore. The awareness of harassment is pretty much universal now so it's not like the guy had some "I was joking or didn't mean it excuse". I'm honestly very quite when traveling with women or stick to safe subjects like my wife and kids during conversations outside of working environments.
