Moving from a left hand layout to a right hand layout is a floor plan change. Nobody is doing that.

Moving to a 50% bigger apartment is a significant upgrade.

Check it out. This is a floor plan change:

Studio Apartment 1 - 480 sq. ft. (similar to where I lived in early 2004 in "The 818" for $900/mo - today it rents for $1600/mo.)


Studio Apartment 2 - 480 sq. ft.


This is an upgrade, not "a different floor plan":

2 bdr Townhome next to the pool - 1194 sq. ft. (similar to where I lived in the same complex at the end of 2004 for $1800/mo - today it rents for $3200/mo)

Looks like they've done some remodeling on the Studio. Painted and got rid of the carpet.
Sure was fun living near the end of the runway where it was impossible to sleep past 7am.


The best part of the townhouse was sharing the solar hot water heater with my neighbor. It was a race to take a shower every morning. And unfortunately, that pool isn't heated.

Nobody goes to the apartment complex office and asks for a floor plan change.

They ask for a bigger apartment or as stated earlier - different building, closer to amenities

For instance, in my apartment in Kalifornia, they would only allow you to have a dog in certain buildings. Which is how I wound up living at real life Melrose Place. After getting laid off from my 6-figure gig in Denver and finding a job at the House of Mouse.
