Have one a mile away but never go there bc walmart pickup is so quick and convenient.

I do a mix of shopping between HEB and Aldi. Aldi is great for fresh produce, dairy items, eggs, some of their fresh baked items, and staples like milk and the like. If you need just the basics it's hard to beat running in there and getting quality stuff you need for a low price very quickly. The negative is they are limited on selection by design and lack a lot of the things I like from HEB. One item I really like from Aldi is their air chilled chicken breasts. These are great and a fraction of the price of the HEB ones. You also have to sack your own groceries at Aldi. However you also have to sack your own groceries at HEB most of the time too since you'll have 3 or 4 baggers BS'ing with a manager instead of doing their ****ing jobs.

Aldi is a glorified gas station.

What crap HEB are you going to? Never have that issue with baggers.

I've never seen an Aldi sell gas. It's a typical European style grocery store. Lidl is the same and you see them on the east coast now.

What gas station has great produce and artisan bread?

I don't know, but the Aldi by me doesn't have that either. We've given it a few chances but we always end up having to go to HEB because they didn't have what we needed

Very few food items I wouldn't buy at Aldi. One thing is anything brand name in there (very little) is often a bad price.

Since you can't do a full grocery shop there (doesn't have the assortment of a normal grocery store) I go there about once every two or three weeks and stock up on staples that are priced well. Anything from cereal, cookies, lunch meat, pickles, etc are priced better than Walmart. The quality is just as good.

The middle isle is their rotating special buys of non-food items. Those deals are hit or miss. Gotten some good stuff there though, too.

To get a grocery cart, you just place a quarter in. Weird the first time, but no big deal.

I don't think I could ever trust their "shoppers" to pick out meat or produce for me.

HEB? Lol, poors. Glorified Walmart is all. Just a lttle brighter and shinier.

When I don't need to choose from 40 different kinds of pickles... Aldi.

But you go ahead and pay 50% more because of the feelz.

Aldi also sells knock off girl scout cookies that are better (IMO).

Produce, Milk, eggs, chicken are all better priced regularly than other stores.

They have great gluten free options that are well priced if that is a thing for you.

Their "Aisle of Shame" (the center aisle that has merchandise that switches out weekly) is great deals on office, kitchen and garden items. Its like the Target Dollar Spot but so much better.

We do our primary shopping at Aldi and supplement with Kroger

Oddly enough Aldi knows this is what a lot of people do and have now purposely sought out locations near new grocery store chains.

I think a lot of Aldi's things are flavorless. I shopped in there for about two weeks this summer and quit.

I do like their breads and produce but I would rather save a trip and go to Kroger (we don't have HEB up here)

ALDI Moser Roth Dark Sea Salt Chocolate Food Review
By Steveo
Moser Roth is generally a step up from the Choceur chocolates at ALDI. This chocolate is a fine European-style chocolate meaning there's a higher concentration of cocoa in the product than most chocolates made in the US. Although not specified on the label, my guess is this would be around a 60% cocoa chocolate. The label does tell us there's sea salt added to the chocolate. I'm not sure what the sea salt adds to the product, but more importantly it doesn't take anything away. Sea salt or not, this is a very nice chocolate.
In the package are 5 small bars. Each bar is 120 calories and is enough chocolate to satisfy my chocolate urges. That's a nice thing, as it provides a chocolate break without having to eat a whole bar of another brand which are generally much larger. Of course, if one isn't enough, you can always have another, and another, and another … well you get the picture.

Ohhh, you might give it a try. I've found that at a huge place like WalMart the quality control standards are so uniform there's very little variability in meat and produce products.

A reasonable point. There's a reason I don't buy beef from Walmart and only some produce.

Tried Aldi a few times but always found the slowest checkout line imaginable. One register open, half a dozen people in line, people leaving the line to get more stuff, carts ready for a hurricane. Just turned me off. I'd like to save a buck but I don't have all day.
