I've got this down Pat. Stop. Look. Listen. Keep Walking.

If you're in bed , turn over and they will fade to black. It's like they go backward pretty quick and get sucked into a black hole.

It's that Simple. But mine aren't evil. They are very serious and mean business. Stern. I know exactly what they are thinking. And I don't mess around. I take care of whatever it is that is bothering them.

To the Catholics, what is a "ghost"?

an oversimplification (because many 'ghost' is a loaded term), but for this conversation:

Quote:

A ghost is simply understood to be a deceased human's spirit that appears on Earth

I'm not Catholic so I obviously don't believe in ghosts.

Also, to my sister-in-law, sprinkling holy water around doesn't keep tornadoes from hitting your house. There's no such thing as magic water.
Your SIL may misunderstand (or you may be misunderstanding her usage of holy water)... so here's some details:

Quote:

Holy water is the primary way Catholics encounter water as a sacramental.

Quote:

Why use holy water? What's the point?

First of all, holy water has the power to forgive venial sins. When we turn to God and remember our baptism, in which we vowed to reject sin and satan, our sins are forgiven!

Second, holy water prepares us to receive the sacraments. With our sins forgiven, our baptism remembered, and with God's blessing upon us, we are ready to receive the grace of the sacraments, especially the Eucharist.

Finally, demons hate holy water. St. Teresa of Avila once said, "I have found by experience that there is nothing from which the devils fly more quickly than from holy water. They also fly from the cross, but they return almost immediately. Certainly, the power of holy water must be great; for my part, my soul feels particular comfort in taking it, and very generally a refreshment and interior delight which I cannot express" (Autobiography). Holy water is an excellent way to protect yourself, your family, or your home from the attacks of the evil one!

Was watching TikToks on string theory yesterday and one talked about how there are 10-11 dimensions yet we can only experience / interact with 4. Very possible that one of those dimensions could be the explanation for what you / others have experienced. There is SO MUCH that we don't know.

And religion is not mutually exclusive with belief in ghosts / a spiritual realm.

I experienced some pretty severe issues when I had my last two wisdom teeth taken out. My priest gave me a small bottle of water from the grotto at Lourdes he had blessed. He told me to swish it around in my mouth and drink it. I did and the next morning I was perfectly fine, as if nothing had ever been wrong.

Yeah but if you drink holy water from the wrong chalice it's magic is reversed and it will turn you super old really quick, make your hair grow crazy fast, and within seconds your turn to dust.

Very important that you don't choose poorly.

So I went to Noon Wednesday Mass today. Had a conversation with our local Priest. He's a fellow Ag grad and came up through St. Mary's in College Station. Told him the things been experiencing over a period of time at the house. He told me ghost are a disembodied spirit, and that God may & sometimes does permit a departed soul to appear in some form to people on earth.

He said St. Thomas Aquinas wrote "absurd to say souls of the departed do not leave their abode". St, Thomas Aquinas Thomas had documented he was visited by the ghosts of his sister and brother. He went on to say experiences of the saints as far back as St. Perpetua in the third century many saints have written about their encounters with ghosts. He followed up with there are multiple types of ghost ones that are suffering in purgatory, being purified for heaven, there are the malicious and deceptive spirits from hell known as demonic in nature, last there are the bright happy spirits of our friends and family who appear unbidden at God's will with messages of hope and love.

The whole family in the house has had experiences like I mentioned in my first post. Even our 2 Weimaraner's will bark but also react when some things happen can't explain.

Have the house blessed.

And get a cat.

I don't know why but the house I lived in as a kid had strange happenings all the time.

They stopped completely when we got a cat and had the house blessed.

I am a firm believer water is a gateway and that cats are guardians to the after life. Many religions believe both of these things....and for a reason.

But you don't bargain with it. If it is an evil entity and not a disembodied spirit struggling to cross over That's basically an invitation. And the thing with evil entities once u give them power and open the gate via bargaining or extending an invitation, taking the invitation and power away and sealing the gate is hard to do...not because God can't do it but because humans are flawed and if there is any part of ur heart that is not in line with God its like leaving the door open a crack for the entity to come back through in the future.

Basically there are 4 major kinds of paranormal apparitions-
1) disembodied spirits that have yet to cross over (either they don't know they are dead or are afraid to cross over)
2) spirits that have crossed over and are visiting as you need or as instructed by God...usually a loved one- think similar to a guardian angel
3) evil apparitions- basically demons and the like that serve the devil.
4) echoes- basically energy from a very traumatic act or event makes an imprint or causes a tear in the fabric of space time which causes that space to replay aspects of that event over and over again. It's not sentient and basically is like an echo through space that just keeps bouncing back into our reality.

Because of some experiences I had as a kid I did alot of research into the paranormal. Most of it is BS.

The legit stuff really opens ur eyes.

So I'm a Catholic but I can say I've heard voices in the middle of the night, even heard my first name. Had doors open and close for no reason, and at times just feels like someone is just watching. So I think my house is haunted. I say that with no BS but some of the sh@t that takes place makes zero sense

1) when did this start?

2) taking into account your answer to 1, is there anything you can think of where an evil spirit may have attached to you?

3) you're Catholic. Ok. Call your local church and have a priest come out and bless your house.

This is all if you want to get rid of it. If you want to talk to it, PM me, I can be down to Burnet in a heartbeat. Would love to come out and try to communicate with whatever it is.

I am no expert, but part of the problem might have been letting your priest take out your wisdom teeth.

If a ghost can open/close a door then it could slap you in the face. These things that "ghosts" do doesn't stand up to reason.

Sometimes, in the dead of night when my floor fan is running, I can hear voices (I can't make out what is being said but definitely some sort of voice). I like to pretend that somehow the fan is picking up radio traffic of some sort, at least that is what helps me get back to sleep. Can't really explain it.

Hey. Same here. And not just me and you, but I worked with a guy that said it happened to him too!

The feeling I got was that my tooth fillings were picking up some radio frequency but it was super low volume.

The Catholic Church used to teach that ghosts could only be demons. There has been a shift in modern times to accept that they may often be the souls of those who are unable to move into Heaven without assistance, such as prayers by their loved ones or blessings from clergy.
