I'm shocked, but not shocked that people don't know it's Ottawa. Then again, I was born/raised in Connecticut and we were taught that in 3rd grade geography in the 60's.

Connecticut is boring and pronounced wrong. They should teach about Canada there since there really isn't much to teach about the important history of Connecticut.

Euro snob? Wow, that's something I've never been called.
Other than being born and raised in a middle class area of Connecticut, the only thing I can honestly state is that I got a really good, comprehensive education in the public school system there in the 60's and 70's.
Ironically, it wasn't till I got to A&M in '75 and realized I was surrounded by snobs in my dorm. They were from the Houston Memorial and San Antonio Alamo Heights areas, and drove cars significantly more expensive than the Oldsmobile parked on my parent's gravel driveway (we didn't have a garage).
Didn't mean to hijack this. I've always been good at geography and the capital of Canada was a no-brainer.
