Not gonna lie that TA sponsor Chicken Express is awfully hard to beat. I keep trying the others and pieces are too small, sides suck, etc. CE fried okra - omfg.

There's a local chain here in Arlington called Lisa's that's pretty good, but CE hands down is the best IMHO.

I haven't lived near a Popeyes in years but it's a fav

Popeye's by a large margin. Only problem (aside from calories) is they consistently have terrible service at every location.

Popeyes seems to have small peces of chicken - my only complaint.

Golden Chick - most wouldn't guess it but it's really good, including sides, roles, tea and all!

I went to Popeye's in March, and their chicken strips had shrank in size by about 40%. Not only that, they were tough; not tender at all. I'm not going back.

I love Lee's chicken. Much better than Popeye's, at least locally.

The dark meat is pretty small but the breast pieces seem to be fairly huge most of the time.

My only complaint with the sandwich is they often don't spread the sauce evenly.

If popeyes consistently put out a good product it would be the best by a mile. Popeyes is only good like 50% of the time and for a fastfood restaurant that is terrible. If you can find a good chick-fil-a location, 99% of the visits are solid.

On a bad popeyes experience i typically get pretty jaded and tell myself "never again". Then I get a hankering out of the blue and end up going back. That happened last month when I ended up in Louisiana and man it was the best popeyes I had ever eaten. You never know.

Another vote for Golden Chick.

Bill Miller chicken is actually pretty good as well.

Funny - I have had the exact opposite experience. I routinely went to a location near my office before Covid and the strips were pretty skinny most of the time.

Since working from home, I've been to another location and especially lately, the strips I've had have been much longer and bigger.

Maybe it's a by location thing.

Chicken Express. Because I can get fried gizzards with my fried chicken.

My rankings - Only on chicken tenders because I don't like eating chicken on the bone.

1. Chicken Express - most consistent, good flavor, big peces.

2. Bush's Chicken / Golden Chick - Big peces like Chicken Express, but lack in consistency of breading taste like the peces were cooked enough, but breading is soggy. Usually have ex-cons as fry cooks. BC doesn't have Diet DrPepper and you have to ask for condiments.

3. All the rest are too salty.

Last time I went to Golden Chick I received this note in the box instead of the fries that were ordered.

It says that he "no feel like making fries" so he didn't include them. Instead of fries we got an extra fried okra.

That's the ghetto Golden Chick I know.

Probably for another thread, but I rarely get strips or tenders. God gave chickens bones for a reason.
