The best secret club on campus was the basketball team before 2004. You could have done whatever stupid secret sh*t you wanted to in the stands and no one but Watkins and the basketball team and that guy in the jester hat would have been there to see you.

1. It is Stickers not Stikkas.
2. I wasn't a Sticker, try the other side. Many of my buddies were Stickers and we were open with each other about it all.
3. Martin's BBQ is a Sticker thing? It was just a corps/Cav/Bonfire thing.
4. The ring on your left hand does not identify a T or Sticker. A lot of people used to do that. Someone tried to tell me that one of my profs was a Sticker because of how he wore his ring. He was a non-reg.
5. Stickers and True Texans are in no way related to the Klan.
6. Neither have much to do with yell leader elections. If one happens to be running, then his buddies will help him out and that's about it.
7. Meetings were nothing more than hanging out together at a house or bar.
8. True Texan's have nothing to do with staying single. A lot of us are married, and our wives or girlfriends get into the camaraderie of the whole thing.
9. While being a member of such a group is elitist in itself, we don't act like we are better than anyone else. We don't walk around with an attitude problem like some would have you believe.
10. Despite what Lt01 says, we aren't trying to effect change. Frequently we promote it.
11. Despite what Lt01 says, we aren't doing this because we don't have any friends. Normally we select people that are already well networked and very popular.
12. Some people are very bitter because they were not picked.
13. The quad terrorist comment was absurd!
14. Army98, I'm pretty sure you know me. B.O.B?

We just called them sticks in my day. And you're correct , absolutely no relationship. Agree with your most of your points. The others I have no opinion one way or another.
The Swastikas and the Boots were a secret club back in pre WWII era.MosesHallRAB said:
Um... you were in the corps and never heard of the Stickas?
Silver Taps Team became secretive sometime in the late 90s, about 10 years after my time there. No longer wore their ribbons, no public acknowledgment of who they were. Announced tryouts via postings in the BQ dorms.Deadbq95 said:
The Siler Taps Bugle team isn't a huge secret. Heck - they we a ribbon on their uniforms for it. Everyone in the band knows which of their peers are members.
the easiest way to figure out who the current Stickers are is to see which BQs are hanging out with the hard-ass CTs. Sometimes it's as obvious as next year's Drum Major hanging out with one of the junior advisors of FDT and next year's Parson's commander.

I believe the True Texans and the Stickers are loosely related, but one is not a direct evolution of the other. It's been a while since I reasearched it, so that may not be true.
I wrote an article about them back in 96. Stickers used to be a much more influential organization, and dates back a LONG time. In recent years (as of 96), the organization has not carried much weight, and basically existed as a result of tradition, without the impact it once had.
