Raise kids there.
Shop at the mall

Shop at Heb on Texas Ave
Once in a while trips to Houston.

Not at all.

I've lived in 3 different states (and a foreign country) since my time at A&M. About to move to the 4th.

I loved my time in College Station but have no desire to live there among college students at this point in my life.

Going back for a football game is a whole different thing though.

Having a ranch within gameday striking distance would be very nice.

When you're in your 20s, living in a town full of your peers is great. When you're 35 or 40, I couldn't think of anything much worse than living in a town full of 20 year olds

No. Although I do miss being able to walk to Shipley's Doughnuts in the morning and the Half Price Bookstore on South Texas Ave and the Schlotzky's there.

No. Too damn many people. We lived there as adults for two years, then 3-4 years at different times and couldn't wait to GTFO the second time. We now live 25 minutes from town and it feels like a whole different lifestyle, but are still able to make quick trips to hit Costco, HEB, etc. Best of both worlds, IMO.

I came back to CS 11 years ago and have steadily moved up into town; kinda backwards. Now live a little over a mile from campus close to Francis and Munson.

I like it here. A lot. Both of my kids graduated from CSHS and A&M. They like calling it home.

I've seriously considered it to get more easy access to Aggie sporting events. When I was a student, I always admired the old Ags hanging around retired with their worn down Aggie rings - they always had great stories. Before I'd make the jump, I'd need a guarantee that we'd win more, though. And finding a local qualified psychologist for the outscored issues.

My wife and I went to school at A&M from 1988-1992, lived there again from 1997 - 2006, then moved to Houston. All our kids were born in BCS.

We missed it for about a year after moving, now we couldn't imagine moving back. No desire to be there anymore, except we did love Grace Bible Church while there.

Man that's what I love about living in college towns....I keep getting older, the girls stay the same age.....
In my experience, there's no such thing as luck.

for you townies, do the cops treat you as bad as they treat the students? or are you pretty much invisible without a beer or joint in your hand?

Moving with, no. Moving them 100% yes. If they would live in CS or any damn where else that would be awesome. Actually just down the road would be best. Big Love style

I live in south College Station. It's pretty peaceful here and quiet. I came to know CSPD pretty well a few years ago as they would come by my house on a monthly basis. I'm 65 now, but my girlfriend was mid 30's. Beautiful, but was an addict and would cause a scene. I never went all "Beard" on her….I'd simply call the cops. They were sympathetic to my plight as I put her in rehab several times. They even came inside my house once and found my little stash of weed for my back pain. They simply said, "We don't care about that." I thought that was very nice of them.

And on a side note: prior to smoking I was on several pills for back pain and depression from the pain. What a nightmare that was….living in a fog and dealing with her. Now my mind is clear. I only smoke enough to help with the pain which is only 2-4 hits a day. I successfully swing/day trade, so I know my mind is clear and I'm pretty much on top of my game.

Back to the topic of this thread. I love it here. Like I said, it's peaceful and quiet where I live. My doctor, hospital, HEB, Laredo Taco Company, nice restaurants are only a 5-8 minute drive for me. Aggie sporting events just 15 minutes away, The Galleria area just one hour from my house and Minute Maid about 1:15 from my house. I don't like dealing with heavy traffic, but it's nice to pop into Houston for dining, shopping and Astros games. Got to see them win the final World Series game from behind the plate.

One more edit. I don't know what it is about this area, but all of my girlfriends I've dated since I moved back here 10 years ago have been between age 33-37 except for one. A 26 year old girl from Russia for about 6 months. She was half American, half Ukrainian. Gorgeous. All of them in the 5'5" to 5'8" range. None over 130 pounds. I love it here! Lolz

Hell no. Love to visit, but any town with a population greater than 6K sucks to live in by definition.

Curious what the nice restaurants are 5 - 8 minutes from south College Station?

1860 Italia
Mad Taco - not sit down nice but good food
RX Pizza - see above
Casa do Brazil

There a few others. Is it the food scene of Houston or Dallas? No. Is it the food desert you're possibly implying it is? Also, no.

Love the name. Saw it while driving from CS to Austin in 1997 for an interview.

This.

People need to grow the hell up.
CS is great when one is a teen or in early 20s when everyone around is the same age. But when one gets older, it's just sad.

Dime Box is the snobby upper crust bourgeoisie. Old Dime Box is where the real salt of the earth people live.

Please tell me more about how I can grow up. And be less sad. Apparently I fit in that box You describe.
