Nah, just open you one of these accounts. I don't think they have real high standards on who can open an account. Almost any type of online banking service will beat a brick and mortar bank's rate by a long shot.
I have 3.4% from Ally and 7 something from Digital Credit Union but that account tops out at $1,000. The balance above 1k earns less than a percent so that's all I keep over there.
Digital credit union? I might have to sign up.
You have to donate $10 to some kind of local charity benefiting local schools if you don't live in their operating area to open an account, but you'll make it up in about 2 months if you keep $1,000 in there.

It's an option. The fed is suppose to move up again in March. I'm in at 3.5 because I jumped I still have some fluid cash but I will wait. After March there is talk of may to go up again. It's a gamble. But 5 is good for what it is. I like my funds safe. Others will say to do markets. It's a self preference. There are threads in the finance board if you want to go through them.
On the side. Cap one is easy.

Think I'm going to open a new account tonight and maybe do that 11 month CD with Capital One.

2) HEB high yield 6% (max $2k for HEB)... Small amount, I know but we move money into this account every month just for groceries. So my grocery money is earning money essentially.

Take it to the "What's your mutual fund return rate?" thread.
Buy a money market fund from a mutual fund company. Lots are+- 4.25% right now, no need to open new accounts if already have an investment account, just move your cash to it.
