I just received the renewal email this past week (AllState). After comparing to my last 6 month policy and doing a little calculating noticed it has/will increase by a little under 41%.

No wrecks, tickets, etc. these past 6 months. Their reply was - everything is going up. I said, yes I understand that, but not to the tune of 40+%. Their only reply was they'd look more closely into it at the end of the month, when it renews.

Obviously, I'm going to be shopping it out moving forward, but was curious if others have had this same issue, recently.

F all insurance companies.

Shop your policy every 2-3 years. They feel you in with a low rate, then hit you for 10-20% the first renewal, and then bend you over, as you have found out.

That said, I've been with Liere for 6 years or so, Safeco policy, and rates have pretty much held steady.

my State Farm went up 20% so I said no tickets perfect driving record for 40 years and they said you are paying for all the idiots that don't know how to drive. Then they said I can go through my Ford app on my truck and save 30% because I am a good driver, SF watches through the Ford app Soooo in 6 months I Expect a 30% reduction in my premium.

I use a company that used to advertise on here Liere insurance from College Station. I have had no issues with them and they always respond quickly when I email or call. I was with Allstate years ago, but they switched me to Encompass which is basically the same thing. I bundle my home and auto (Truck and Yukon XL Denali) , so I get a small discount. I haven't compared rates in awhile since I feel like what I am being charged has remained consistent.

My insurance agent told me they don't really base renewal rates for existing customers on traffic citations etc, moreso credit scores and claim history. So, you're not far from off the right question.

Insurance is a pooling mechanism. Companies take the premiums from all to pay the claims of the few.

The industry has historically collected enough money to keep 10-15 cents on the dollar after paying claims and overhead. However, inflation, supply chain issues, and adverse trends in litigation rates/verdict amount killed those margins over the last 2 years. Every billboard or commercial for Thomas J Henry, the Texas Hammer, etc. should piss you off as you think about the additional dollars you're paying at the policy renewal. The article below is specific to auto but the ratio you want to pay attention to is the combined ratio. The Q4 22 numbers will be released soon but the combined ratios are expected to be north of 100%. Meaning every dollar collected was insufficient to pay claims and cover operating expenses.

Expect meaningful increases until that changes.

Homeowners results are more varied by geography(hail, quake, flood, wind, etc) but aren't any better.

My renewal quote with Travelers increased by 40%. No change in my driver profile. Looking around now.

. ___Good luck with the state mandated minimum liability policy limit if you get hit with a claim many times that limit. I would not drive across town without my $300,000 limit plus an umbrella of $1,000,000 or more. Any ins agents care to comment on this?

I agree totally it would be insane to jeopardize your entire net worth for a few buck's savings in premium.

Wife and I have had USAA our entire adult lives. I saved 2,800/year by switching to Progressive for auto with all the same deductibles four months ago. USAA needs to stop ****ing advertising and just go back to being good.

Shop around. We left All-State after a very long time because they tried to give us a 40% increase.

I post the same thing every time one of these posts come up:

Ag Workers out of Ft. Worth. I have been with them since 1987. Great folks to work with.

Select risk driver insurance - so if you have had accidents or tickets lately - don't bother.

However as mentioned above - rates are now calculated using credit scores and claim histories.

If these are good for you, this is the cheapest and I believe best auto insurance out there for the money,

IF I get a robo call for auto insurance, all I do is say I have Ag Workers and they hang up because they know they can't compete with them.

Ag Workers Insurance
I’ve seen them play since way back when,
And they’ve always had the grit;
I’ve seen ‘em lose and I’ve seen ‘em win,
But I’ve never seen ‘em quit.

Had the same type of increase with Geico. Actually went to a local generic agent who prices multiple companies. She got me a good rate with Amwins.

Maybe there should be an insurance company that is only high deductible (like $2500) for lower premiums. I guess there would have to be some extra financial qualifications on the financing side, but so many people rarely make claims while others have a bunch.

Progressive has a $2,000 deductible option. Most lienholders won't allow anything above $1,000.

Probably will continue to go up. The taillights have been stolen off my F150 twice now and it was a $3000 claim the first time. Now just some cheap aftermarkets on there.

My progressive has been very stable. Runs $1000 every 6 months with just the 2023 Corvette on the policy. It is going to be hard to change because they have pretty significant loyalty rewards over the years. At diamond level now they have large accident forgiveness so your rates won't change even if you total the car.

My policy went up 15% over last year, so not as drastic but I also called the company and the agent said it was due to inflation. She
Said the company offers a driving course for $ 27.00 to help keep the premium from going up so much. I haven't gotten a ticket since the late 90's. She also said I have room to drop some coverage but didn't want to since my vehicle is a 2019.

I had them for several years and loved it. I moved to CO in 2018 which they don't provide coverage for so I had to change. I moved back last year and switching back to them was one of the first things I wanted do. Something, however, had changed.

First, I couldn't get anyone in their office to actually give me a quote. They use Insureberry for quoting and I found them to be totally incompetent. I actually tried to initiate a policy with them but I couldn't get them to email me the contract to sign. The rep kept telling me she would but never did. I tried maybe 3 times to track her down. So, I went with someone else.

Tried again this year, and still feel Insureberry is unnecessary, but it didn't matter because they were much higher than my eventual selection - Farmers.

AgWorkers used to feel personal to me and would beat any other quote I would get many times even without the dividend considered, but I doubt I even bother with them going forward.

It was a major disappointment.

I have a retired game warden friend who gets me to quote him every year. Going on year 10, and can't beat Ag Workers auto

Sorry to hear that. I don't work for them or get any kick back, but this is the first time I've heard of anything less than great service. Daughter #3 just got her own policy last month and had zero issues.

I'm not sure about the insureberry thing either, I just call the same number I always have and almost always talk to a nice lady named Michelle. I give them my policy number and it's always "wow, that's a low number."

Founded in 2009 and rebranded as Insureberry in 2021, we are a subsidiary of Agricultural Workers Mutual Auto Insurance Company.

As of January 14, 2021, AG-Pro Services is now Insureberry.

I've got a stupid question. My current Farmers Ins policy expires 7/27/2023 (I pay monthly). Does that mean I'm committed until that date?

My monthly payment hit checking this week, and I'm feeling violated.

I went online just now and got a quote from "Amica" (never heard of them) that was for less than half of my new Farmer's rate. The idea of not using one of the big guys scares me, but Farmer's has priced me out, and I don't think Allstate/State Farm/etc would be any cheaper.
