Aggie Sam Torn owns Camp Ozark and I've only heard good things.

There's one or two at Lake Livingston if you're not wanting the far distance.

I wish I got to attend camps. I was working instead mowing yards and weeding flower beds.

My 12 year old son went to Pine Cove last summer and loved it. It's unapologeticly a Christian camp which quite frankly concerned me as our family doesn't really attend church much and I read some concerning things about a heavy handed approach. Church goers from east Texas aren't normally folks I have a lot in common with….My son loved it - had fantastic counselors and the facilities are fantastic - and it got our family back into church. Both my boys are going back this year - great experience. Highly recommend

I had friends that sent theirs to Pine Cove every summer. And then later the kids grew older and worked as counselors.

Send them to Boy Scout summer camp. But not in Texas because it's freaking hot.

Camp Alexander near Colorado Springs or Camp Hale in the mountains in eastern Oklahoma.

Have them take all of the shooting sports merit badges. And fishing.

I did several summer camps (and worked staff one summer) at Camp Perry outside Rio Hondo. Wasn't that bad. Just sign up for at least one class that gets you in the water.

Laity Lodge, which is owned by HEB. Both of my kids worked there at some point as either volunteers or paid summer staff.

Absolutely not. I went to Fish Camp 22 years ago and I've been unbelievably homosexual ever since.

Then you did it all wrong…

T Bar M is the only way you can get accepted into Kappa Alpha Theta or BYX

$10,000. Damn. I remember being a kid and a week in the middle of July at Sid Richardson or Worth Ranch cost like $200.

Sid Richardson was roughing it though. Scorpions and *****

Must wear vibrams or sandals with lace that wrap around the toes, or you can't be a counselor there

Must ensure half your resume for Mays Business School classes includes bullets about the management lessons learned while staffing T Bar M. Standard check the box experience needed for PPA and Big 4 firms, holds more weight than Eagle Scout

First names can only have up to 2 syllables, no more, or can't be part of T Bar M

None of that is even remotely problematic. Remove the stick from your ass and life will be a lot better. They're ****ing college kids who cares.

Sent our kids to Laity Lodge on the HEB property just north of Leakey. They liked it as attendees . One of them worked there a couple of summers. He had no desire to go back there to work. The way he described, it sounds like it turned Fish Camp weird after the pandemic.

Saw a lot of these weird hipster eco christian types in Mays. I never understood the fascination with going to a bible summer camp but hey they must be getting laid and doing good drugs if it's that great

OTX - Camp Ozark's new Texas camp. I was underwhelmed but a lot of kids from our kids' school go so they're going back.

I should add that our kids loved it - which is most important.

It's been mentioned a number of times here, but I can't say enough good about it.

Also, I went to Camp Champions as a kid, which was like Camp Longhorn's less fortunate illegitimate step brother. I loved it.

I agree!

We send our grandkids each year(only 2 are old enough right now). Pine Cove is excellent, and really not that expensive IMO compared to some that have been mentioned.
