well well well if it isn't the consequences of her own actions
And there are girls that you've coached that have done stupid sht.racerfink said:Ragnar Danneskjoldd said:
She's not being punished for breaking a law. She's being held hostage by a rogue state. You know this.
Amazing how several of the girls I've coached in high school, that have gone through college and are now playing overseas (including Russia) have not run afoul of this. Maybe it's because they are not dumb-asses.
I tend to take that internet ******* behavior with a grain of salt. By and large, it's worth the paper it's printed on.Ervin Burrell said:Easier said than done when Griner was making $1 million over there...hard to turn that down.Claude! said:
Agreed, though I'd say just don't go to Russia as an American.
No one is questioning that it was idiotic of her to have drugs in her bag in a place like Russia, but the cheering and gleefulness I see from some (many of whom would identify as Christian) celebrating her situation is...disturbing.
any of them hot?racerfink said:Ragnar Danneskjoldd said:

If she didn't bring drugs into their country, would this be happening?

Would have been home in a week if Trump were in office. You can love him or hate him but he knew how to get things done. Currently we're a complete rollover to the Russians.
Him'r'her. Let's see today's Thursday…….coin toss…..you're correct she's him today. Can't wait for Baylor to put it on their GOAT wall.Lake08 said:

Yea, Putin's bottom man rolled over a lot.

I love original comedy. You made fun of a person because their appearance doesn't meet conventional expectations. Hilarious. Surprised no one on TexAgs has thought of this.

I'm not celebrating her situation. I'm simply not mourning the fact that an American that did not want to be an American got arrested for breaking the law in another country. Do the crime, do the time.
A lot of y'all are Russian to her defense while ignoring the fact that she did break a law

Nobody is defending her and saying what she did was justifiable. You've already made up your mind so you don't want to pay attention to what other people are saying.
She broke the law and deserved to be punished but the sentence she received is disproportionate to the crime and is due to the current political climate between the US and Russia. To say otherwise is ignorant.
I agree with your statement -- it is absolutely political.RealTalk said:
During happier times between US and Russia, do you think Griner would've gotten 9 years?
There's a political element in play and that's all I'm saying.

The nine year sentence has little to do with her crime and a lot more to do with gaining some leverage for a potential prisoner swap. They're not being "tough on crime". They're negotiating.
