These pagers were around since I was in high school, but it was around my senior year of high school that the prices were low enough for kids to have them.

I used to love talking girls on AIM. It was a rush when they would log in with that little door opening sound coming across the speakers of my family's desk top back in the office.

The question was always how long to wait after they sign on to message them.

I remember Dr. Joe Townsend (Ag. Ed.) was soooo happy to get his new "portable" computer. It had an 8086 processor and a 10MB hard drive along with a 5 1/4" floppy. About the size of a carry on suitcase and weighed about 40 pounds.

He was even happier two years later when he got a newer one with a 286 processor, 30 MB hard drive and 5 1/4" and 3 1/2" hard drives

I too registered for classes for the '87 year using the dial in phone system. "Please enter an action code now..." "I'm sorry, you're action code was not recognized. Please try again."

In the fall of 1984, my instructor for an introductory computer class was Dr. Joe's wife Chris. We used these TRS-80 beauties…
I used those with 10" floppies in my genetics lab my junior year!

If that was AGRI 201, I was the TA with Dr. Briers (The Jerry Clower of A&M) Spring/Fall of '90. They had just updated that lab to BRAND NEW 8088 machines with monochrome ORANGE monitors and a total of three dot matrix printers for the whole lab of 28 computers.

Couldn't have made it in Engineering without the HP41CV. Reverse Polish Notation rocks!

Once you get the hang of RPN it's so good.

This thing didn't need a screen protector, a case, or insurance. You could throw the thing against a ****ing brick wall (and I did when my girlfriend broke up with me) and it would still be there for you (even when she wasn't).

Hey, my A&M dorm had no air conditioning and electricity was added to the building well after it was initially built.

CNN is an enemy of the state and should be treated as such.
