I have donated whole blood, plasma and platelets over the years - but damn it is getting to be such a pain in the ass I want better compensation than a t-shirt.

How much $ we talking about nowadays? I'm thinking $100 for an hour of laying there would feel worth it.

Did it in college, and again about 5 years ago. You make the best money if you go twice a week. In college i think it was something like $25 the first time, then $35, then $25, then $40 and repeat but only if you come through twice a week. They want you to go consistently, i think because just a single pint isn't as useful as if they combine multiple of your donations.

It's probably a little more than that now. Biggest negative is you can't go to sleep or eat or drink anything.

I used to do it in college every so often for beer money. It was a pretty good deal because you'd get drunk easier after donating, so it was a win win.

Looks like it's around $100 per donation IF you give twice a week.

30 mins to an hour maybe?

Never been poor enough to have to donate my bodily fluids. Closest I have come to being poor is having to drive a Honda.

Depends on what kind of Honda. I still think the S2000 is an incredible car. Sadly they stopped making them.

My now-spouse and I did this twice in college.

The first time it was great for me. My wife got a hematoma though.

The second time was great for my wife. I vomited though afterwards.

I have a scar in my arm because of the thickness of the needle.

I had a buddy at A&M that did this because he needed the money. He said you can make more money with plasma than blood, because you're not allowed to donate blood frequently enough. I can't imagine being so hard up for money that I would know that. He graduated and is doing well now, so a success in life story for those who are willing to do whatever it takes.

The wife and I donate regularly. Been to Costa Rica a few times with the money. The rest goes to the single mom college funds.

I was willing to do a lot to get out of college with no debt. Big course loads, cheap apartment, cheap food, beater car, had a job and did yard work or helper work on my days off, sold plasma.

The plasma was the best dollars per hour, it was equal to 3 hours of yard work or 4 hours at my day job, and you're laying down in the AC watching tv.

When I build my empire I'll say it all started with a little blood money.

I did it for a while as a fish until my veterinarian father explained to my dumb ass that I was selling my immune system and I laughed it off and then got a three-week cold. Not worth it.

Just remember, mouthwash can get rid of the taste, but not the memories.

I did for a while with a girl I dated back in '08. I think it was $20-25 each time. These days I would rather do Lyft rides as a side job than sit for an hour with a needle in my arm lol.

I give my bodily fluids away for free like a chump.

Same. I was a twice a week regular in College Station during college in the 90's. Still have the scars on both arms to remind me. Was good beer money.

My niece at A&M told me last week she was getting $125 per. I used to get $20/25 in late 90s.

$125 is pretty good. They must really need the plasma now.
