Actually saw this happen in POLS 206 during a summer session. Guest lecturer kept talking about the FED and monetary policy and the FED and so on and so forth. Somebody asks "What exactly is the 'FED'?" and the lecturer just blanks and says, "I don't know."C1NRB said:
This thread feels familiar, like there was one just like it a few years ago. Or maybe I dreamt it.
Anyway....
A college professor friend told me his recurring dream many years ago- He shows up to teach a class that was "like" his field, but wasn't exactly in his field. Like a botanist teaching anatomy- both biology but different. He tries to fake it but the class knows he's lost. He said the worst part was him realizing they the class is "on to him" and their reaction- not calling him out or laughing but pity. Like, "You poor sap. You really don't know what you're doing, do you? That's just sad."
I thought that was pretty funny. Until I started adjunct teaching and having the same dream.
...
Imposter syndrome is real.
Some hippie says "**** this this is bull****," hops up, and walks. Rest of the class streamed out after him--remember, this is big giant POLS 206 lecture hall class, so it was dozens of people.
I've seen your face in this dream.
