No doubt some auto drivers are inattentive.
However, several years ago I went through a mandatory motorcycle license class. One segment included a talk by a motorcycle insurance agent.
Several people questioned him on why insurance was so expensive for "crotch rocket" riders.
He said more than 90% of those owners were in the 30 and younger group and there was a 90 percent claim rate for them.
Insurance for Harley and Honda Gold Wing riders was fairly inexpensive because the riders were primarily 50 and over and didn't do things like run from the police and wheelies at 60 mph and weaving in and out of traffic.
I rode a Gold Wing for 10 years all over the USA and Canada. Never had an accident but dodged a lot of four wheelers who just didn't see me.
