That's debatable. This puzzle is about making connections, not about knowing obscure things. Losing a good puzzle should evoke "it seems obvious now," not "I never would have got that."

Why? It's a test of the words you know and ability to connect them. You don't know the word or connection, you don't win the challenge. If in hindsight you somehow think the game author made a "bad" connection, that's part of the game. I can't fathom thinking that treating it as an open book puzzle is not, I'll use the word "hacking", the game. But it's not cheating since there is no game rule stating how to play, only how to solve. Just less sporting, in my opinion.
