Have they been able to determine the extent of the brain trauma, or what the long term effects will be? Probably unknown, but I am hopeful. This would be a miracle of epic proportions. Praying, and fight like hell Tripp.

Yeah, my son turns 2 on Thursday. I can't imagine what this family has had to go through. Keep fighting Tripp!!!

From my experience and those pictures he likely suffered severe brain injury. These children need a ton of support and can have some quality of life but essentially at around 4 months developmentally.

I could be wrong but I doubt it. It is amazing he is even doing that well with this clinical picture.

Again not trying to discourage prayer as it does help, just sharing my extensive clinical experience with special needs children over the last 20+ years.

Neurostorms are hard and dangerous. If therapy is causing them, it has to be paused. His brain just can't handle the stimulation and can't regulate things like his heartrate and blood pressure. Storming is usually indicative of a pretty severe brain injury.

A few years ago, I rescued my 3 year old daughter from a swimming pool. She had decided to join her big sister in the pool but had taken off her floaties. Her sister said (calmly and quietly) "Daddy, Audrey is under the water." I looked up and saw bubbles coming from her mouth as she was under water. I was only 10 feet away and was in that water instantly and pulled her out. She was fine but scared out of her mind. I balled later that night thinking about what could have happened.

We were at a party with about 20 people at my father-in-law's place. Classic case of diffused accountability, and many kids drown at parties with tons of people nearby.

The image of the bubbles coming from her mouth still haunts me. Both of our girls are good swimmers, but we vowed to leave the pool fence up for any friends with younger kids.

Prayers for this little guy for continued recovery. Pool accidents can happen so quickly.

He looks so much better! Beautiful child. Still praying for his complete recovery. And for his family; being separated and under so much stress has got to be so difficult.

I pray every morning for little Trip, his family, and medical team.
His eyes no longer have that blankness.
So grateful for his continued recovery, and the updates that we eagerly look forward to.
God is good.

This story moved me to sign my 5 yr old and 18 month old girls up for swim lessons. They started last night. I can't imagine the pain of experiencing an accident like this.

Been a while since last update. Hoping for good news.

Man when my oldest was about 3, we were in a pool, sitting on a step/shelf in the deep end. He asked me what this big device was right outside the pool, it was some sort of water game like at splash parks. I got out and was facing him, pushing and pulling this lever to see if it shot water or something. He was laughing and just sitting there. Then I faced the other way for a second to try another lever and it shot water, I got excited and turned around and didn't see him. I panicked and walked the literal 4-5' to pool edge and there he was under water.

God it happened so fast. I was lucky that he was under only maybe 5 seconds. I pulled him up and he just spit out water and was breathing fine, but jesus if that water game thing had my attention for just a few more seconds I hate to think what could have happened.

Thoughts and prayers for this little guy.

I follow the story on Facebook now. I just saw a video of him doing pt and they were asking him to push (using his legs) and he did so im really hoping and praying there is some decent brain function.

Any updates? I think about Tripp from time to time

Trip and his family have been in my morning prayer ever since this was posted.
