Put that old towel down where the mom cat moved them to and put all of them there for the time being. Mom may move them again and if so, just let her do it. She obviously hasn't abandoned them which is great. The two biggest threats to newborns are dehydration and hypothermia and that towel, slightly bunched up, will help a lot.

Just keep an eye out but looks like you can be relatively hands off for the time being.

Oh and make sure the towel isn't super dirty or has strong odors obviously.

If you have an old low cut box that is usually very appealing as well to mother cats. Maybe sit one aside in a corner but close. One of those with a towel in there would suit them well for the time being.

Shouldn't be too hard really but I trapped myself with the ole, "ignore the easy class to spend time on hard classes only to be ambushed by the easy class last minute with an exam that is more indepth than you expected" gambit. Ya know, the usual.

What if she was on her way back to get the other two and saw you and ran away?

It can take her awhile to move them. And she won't do it unless everything is safe on both ends.

I tried getting rid of a kitten I found in the garage and it was more difficult that I thought. Had to set an appointment and some places even make you pay.

I ended up just dropping off the kitten at a park nearby.

i am not a cat person in any way shape or form, but i do love animals in general. one time some friends were over and a little kitten came up and all the kids and my wife's friend started petting it. my wife and i said, please don't do that. giving that cat any hope of this being a safe place is not a good idea.

the kids tried to talk us into keeping it and we politely refused.

leave the cat outside. a bit later my son and his friend go outside to jump on the trampoline and about 2 minutes later, his friend comes in crying because that kitten decided this was a safe place and decided to go into my back yard with my coon hound and shepherd.

it was not a safe place.

When I was a mere lad there was a neighborhood cat we called "Wildcat" - we were so great with words then.

Turns out Wildcat was a female and decided to have kittens in our backyard. Our beagle "Sweetie" found them. I'll never forget my Mom walking around the back yard picking up dead kittens all over the place.

You could drop them off at the EC VFD. They will care for them and likely find homes.

Burlap sack, a length of rope, and a creek.

Problem solved.

Damn. I hate that. But even though I am a huge cat lover, unreasonably so at times, I can accept that these things happen. Mom cats abandon kittens all the time. A lot of times the kitten has something wrong with it and was not truly viable anyways.

Sucks.

I'll appreciate my two rescues more tonight. And you obviously care more than most so we are homies now. Whether you like it or not.

The whole touching them and then they are abandoned is such a fallacy. This is straight up not true. Hell, not even most birds do this as most ppl think.
