This woman was on parole. While on parole, she was caught with a significant amount of methamphetamine (many baggies ready for sale) and was charged with intent to distribute. Due to the prior conviction, she faced a minimum of 15 years but could get up to life. The prosecution offered her 20 years, which as we all know in Texas, really means about 10 or so. She pled guilty to the crime, but instead of taking the sentencing deal she decided to let a jury determine her sentence.
They gave her 99 years.
