How old is she? We told our 7 year old she can have a pet when she can show she is responsible for keeping her room clean and doing her assigned chores without being reminded or asked for an extended period of time. Sooo... when she is 25ish.

We have had 2 dwarf rabbits. Both stayed in a run outside as they got older. They are fine if you handle them when pups. They take a while to domesticate if they are older and haven't been handled. The older one lived indoors the first few years. He stayed in a cage and my daughter took him out to play regularly. They like to chew stuff and they will poop indiscriminately if not litter trained. Our oldest died after 10 years. That's a pretty long life for a rabbit.

Didn't take long for this thread to follow GB tradition and go straight to midgets.

Get her a Flemish Giant. Those are pretty cool rabbits.

Rabbits are great to keep if you fall on hard times. Reproduced like crazy and grow fast. Pretty tasty.

Don't let her sister and her cousin try to double bounce it on the trampoline or else it might get paralyzed from the waist down...Speaking from experience.

my dad always butchered one when we had guests over back in the 80s. think he got off on it. he would like to cut out the (still beating) heart and throw it at you.

Recommend: kitten. Will turn into an ass hole cat but generally low maintenance and poop in a box. But when you present the new pet, it will be cute enough that all requests for a bunny will be forgotten.

This also. They are not for rambunctious kids who lose control and like to play rough with pets. Rabbits are easily broken.

Speaking from experience, cats can be real *******s.

Rabbits are okay; they poop a lot but rabbit pellets aren't that big of a deal; if she leaves it alone it will eat power cords. My daughter had a rabbit for two years until it died from nothing but sudden death; which is apparently somewhat common; so if you buy the rabbit go ahead and pick the patch of dirt you will be digging up for it now.

I think it's a good idea. Raise it until it is nice and fat, and then teach her a valuable lesson about the circle of life over a delicious rabbit dinner.

Marry a stripper/hair dresser, develop a meth habit, rob a bank, before you ever get a damn rabbit.

Recommend a Caerbannog Rabbit. They are dynamite!

Get a male. They tend to make better pets.

See if you can find anyone anywhere near you that has Dwarf Hotot. They stay pretty small (2.5-3.5 lbs) and are overall make really good pets.

IMO, rabbit meat is very underrated. I almost always order it when I find it on the menu somewhere new.

I want a Bunny

We have a mini lop. My daughter got it for her 7th birthday. Very easy especially if your daughter will take care of it.

Is it really that hard to just say no?
