Has anyone heard the rumor that a local businessman (Segars Inc.) has purchased some land across from the old fun park and is bringing it back? Supposedly, it will have a skating rink, water slide and go carts. Any info?

I would build a shrine to whoever brought back Pooh's park. For those of you who weren't around in the days of Pooh's park, it was this old school park that was where Shoe Carnival/Ross/Goody's/Petco is now... I grew up in College Station and would have to agree that it was the ****.

what did it have that made it fun??

There were gypsies there that turned tricks in Pooh's house.

I think I went to that place like 4 times when I lived here back in the 80s. I just remember the skating rink, but that there was some other stuff that never was used....

Yeah, the old one was awesome. It had a skating rink, water slide, minature golf and batting cages. I think the old sign for it is still up.

I guess that would take care of the wish by many to have a better putt-putt place.

Last I heard, Segars Inc was outta the Amusement Park business. Most people dont know that after they shut down the local Poohs Park, they sold their share in Jellystone Park and made millions outta that sale before Jellystone went bellyup.

Segars and its founder and CEO Ralph Segars then purchased all this stock in Krispy Kreme and Dell and made millions more. Now, they've started an Airline and he lives in Plano in like a 25000 sqft house.

I knew his business associate Peter Klima and he had told me a couple of years ago they were thinking of building a new updated Poohs Park in College Station as a way to repay College Station for his growing up here but I didnt know they were moving forward with it. I did a little more checking and apparently they plan to make it pretty big with multiple water slides like a whole new water park, a roller coaster, putt putt, speed go-carting, 20,000 sqfoot arcade, and pizzeria too along with alot of other stuff.

I'm gonna try and find out more.

the poohs park water slide was the best. we used to go there all the time when i was a kid.

I had many a b-day party at Pooh's Park. It was the bomb diggity.

What's the timeframe on a new park? I think that would be pretty cool.

I too remember Pooh's Park from my childhood in B/CS.

My question is what did this Segar person do to accumulate $165M with out a degree and if he was on the Consol state title team in 1991 he can't be much older than 30.

I was looking at a map of B/CS the other day and saw "Pooh's Drive" listed as one of the streets. Sure enough, it was the paved entrance to Pooh's Park. I kinda got misty eyed.

What year did it close? I came to CS in '90 and don't remember it being here.

It was located where Starbucks/Ross/Petco is now. The old sign is still there if you look. I think they were just too lazy to take it down, or they didnt have a crane that tall.

How old is Ralph Segars? I grew up at Pooh's Park, going skating every Friday night for years. The waterslide was great but you kept falling off the mats. We also used the pitching machines a bunch.

Pooh's Park was owned by the Dale family from CS not the Segar's.

The Dale family owned the managing partnership in it, the Segars had an equal share.

I've seen threads about this before and it weirds me out because I lived nearby in the 80's and I had family in town and spent a lot of time here and I don't remember jack about Poohs Park... Plus my uncle had a duplex behind that ATV store which would have been like a stone's throw away. Surely I must have been there, but I don't remember it at all. When did it close?

I dont think so..Consol won the State title about 4-5 years after Poohs Park closed down.

What about Boondocks fun ranch or whatever, I always used to hear stuff on the radio about that place, but now I never do. Does it still exist, anyone ever gone there?

I ain't never heard of any of this sh**...but I didn't get there till '96

Boondocks went thru ownership change last year, I think around October. The new people seemed to be fixing it up with a promise to open soon but I never heard if it reopened.
