Don't waste any of the tequila mentioned on ranch water... ranch water tastes best with cheap tequila IMO. And real topo chico.

Going to actually follow some GB advice and open up some Clase Azul reposado in about an hour.

My wife's cousin told me the other day that the ultra Anejo Clase Azul was some good sheet. $1,500 bottle.

Get something light for ranch water, and heavy for sipping

Ranch Water I prefer Blanco, Don Julio Blanco or Cdigo with a splash of Contreau. Sipping tequila can't go wrong with Don Julio Real, Don Julio 1942, Clase Azul, Casa Noble, Dragones, and Gran Patron Burdeos

For margaritas/ranch waters/palomas, I typically use Espolon Blanco. Good price point, good tequila for mixing it up with stuff. For sipping tequilas, too many to list that I like. Also a huge mezcal fan. When I lived in Mexico City, I got hooked on sitting on patios sipping tequila and mezcal after work and man there were some good ones.

It's basically tequila, mineral water (usually Topo Chico) and a squeeze of lime. Make it like you'd make a rum and coke.

Yeah, ranch water's are refreshing, light, not sugary. Funny it is becoming such a thing now, you can even buy it canned I noticed at Total Wine/Specs, but way better value just taking a swig off the top of a Topo and pouring some tequila in. 8 Row Flint in Houston has one of the better "craft" ranch waters if you get it at a bar around town. It's been around Houston a while, but have noticed it has really become popular over last year around town as a Happy Hour special, probably because it costs them very little but they can charge $$ for it.

Some good anejos for sippin:

Corazon, Cabo, or for something smooth and cheap Campo Azul

Espolon Anejo is at a really good price too. I really like that stuff.

Dos Artes Tequila Extra Anejo is incredible.

I just got turned on to Palomas recently.

Good stuff. Lighter / less sweet than margaritas.

Cant beat Herradura Anejo for the price. Tastes almost as good as the more expensive tequilas like Clase Azul and 1942. Patron Extra Anejo is another really good one.

make your own simple syrup or order "skinny" margaritas at restaurants

I can't stand the sweet and sour mix at most places
