They are both crustations from the sea. To which you like better is mere preference. I prefer boiled blue crabs, but like them all.

Sadly I'm allergic to crawfish and crabs are too much of a PITA so I only do shrimp boils.

Wow......I'm the exact reverse, so I eat the hell out of bugs to replace the shrimp that bring me misery in my middle age.

A crawfish boil is better than any shrimp dish, but other than that, I'll almost always choose shrimp over crawfish. Just like lobster, the meat seriously declines when not alive when cooked.

Yes I'm more of a shrimp fan but it's all about the crawfish boil atmosphere... the gathering... the conversation... the beer ..

sure they can but the lead in to actually putting the bugs in the water is the best part. For shrimp that is zero time.

I'm a fan of both. We did shrimp boils growing up because one of dads best friends is a shrimper, but the process was the exact same as a crawfish boil, just a different cook time.
