I think Mr Cassell is really just working on developing the skills needed for his future political career. To claim they respect the rights of the organizers to put on their show, while simultaneously starting a petition that explicitly calls on the state university to ban the event, requires a level of cognitive dissonance tailor-made for a career in DC or Austin.

Those guys are just jealous that the performers look better than the girls they brought along. I'd have loved to walk by their sign in what I went as to the con this weekend just to mess with their protest and watch them freak out.

The show was good. My wife and I had never been to one before and had no idea what to expect. We had a blast.

Saw this from the organizer of the petition and protest:


A couple points:
  • Those yelling and cursing at the protesters praying were absolutely wrong. We have to be able to disagree with each other in respectful ways.
  • That said, Brendan claims they were respectful. That's ludicrous. Respect is so much more than simply not yelling at people. When you lie about the funding of the show while calling on a state entity to ban the show, you cease to have any claim of being respectful. When you have a sign that says "transgender tyranny" (goodness, trans and drag aren't the same thing), you cease to have any claim of being respectful.

Want to be respectful? Sit down with the other side and listen to them. Truly listen to their perspective. Don't call on state coercion to silence them.

Just to clarify, this was not an OPAS performance. It was a Town Hall presentation. OPAS had a performance in the auditorium on that same evening (The Play That Goes Wrong).

Kinda like gay marriage, it doesn't affect anyone so why would it matter?
