agree with most on here.

family went there when I was a kid for the chicken planks and hush puppies.

fish is okay.

used to go every 4 months when i had to take a regular business trip which was a 6 hour drive passing through podunk towns. this or mcdonalds were the only choices so LJS on the way there, McDonald's on the return trip.

haven't made that trip in 4 years so haven't eaten there in r years.

also i see many of them combined with a&w places.

have no clue how either of them stay in business

when you make cole slaw in an industrial sized trash can and hand mix it...

I just want to say I've recently discovered the greatness of Arbys. Hadn't eaten there in close to 20 years.

The bad rap is totally unwarranted.

Sounds like you have had some personal experience...
but in theory I have no objection to mass produced cole slaw,
as long as everything is clean and fresh.

The thing I've heard to avoid are those automated soft drink machines where you can punch in lots of different choices and mixtures...that requires a lot of connections and is hard to keep clean.
Most min wage employees aren't going to want to thoroughly clean hundreds of tubes nightly.

In all seriousness, I am convinced mattress stores are the criminal underworld's go to money laundering enterprise. How in the hell do so many stay open in one town?

Two in one town -- i can kinda understand there being two mattress stores in town; one to keep the other accountable and prices competitive.

Three in one town -- Ehh... maybe, coming in to edge out some profits from the other two.

Four + in a town -- no way does it make sense. Aint that many people buying mattresses every day.

How about 3 at one intersection , like at Knox and Central in Dallas? Bonus that they're all Mattress Firms

I live in Longview and there are four within walking distance from my house. I've never been in any of them, but I have no idea how they stay in business. I don't think people buy brand new furniture that often.

Seriously. They have upped their game in recent years. About 2 years ago they had a venison sandwich as a one day prom that was delicious. The gyros are pretty good along with all their seasonal stuff like the pretzel roll sandwiches right now.

Big purchase items and low overhead, usually no more than 2 employees needed at a mattress firm type store. There was a solid freakonomics podcast a few years back discussing that entire industry, the attempted disruption of it with companies like Casper etc.

Do they sell baskets of just fried batter? I'd eat that while crying alone in a dark room.

Yes, ask for a basket of crunchies or crispies.

I like the fish. Can't eat there often, but I like it. The hush puppies are great. I eat the Cole slaw in lieu of the fries as a side.

Arby's apple turnover is a treasured late night indulgence, but the real trick is actually being able to find an Arby's where they DON'T say 'I'm sorry, were out of the turnovers right now'. That pisses me off. Are they that much of a pain in the ass to make?

Also, their jamoca shakes are off the charts.
