Tl;dr- The Jane Goodall Foundation objected to the cartoon and threatened legal action. Larson then refused to allow the comic to be reprinted. Turns out Jane Goodall wasn't even aware of what her foundation threatened. She loved the comic. Had Larson come visit her habitat where he was beat up by a monkey. She then wrote the forward to The Far Side 5. Also, al money made off that particular comic was donated to her foundation.
