Monitor lizard on the loose in Williamson County, may pose danger to kids and animals

GEORGETOWN, Texas (KXAN) The Williamson County Sheriff's Office is advisingthat a missing monitor lizard is on the loose in the Lakewood subdivision of Georgetown.
Patrol and Livestock deputies are searching for the animal, which can be dangerous to small children and animals.
If you come across the lizard, you're asked to use caution and call 911.

Predictions on how this turns out?
My bet is that the lizard ends up as a pair of boots or a wallet depending on how big it is. Just read that the monitor lizard in question is about 4.5 feet in size. Hell, it could end up as a piece of luggage

Thats a good point though. What is the law regarding an escaped (dangerous) exotic pet?

Rule of capture, finders keepers, any sort of salvage rights apply?

Update:

The 4.5 ft long monitor lizard lizard is still at large.

The lizard's name is Darby.

Lizard is presumed to be in the vicinity of a golf course / retirement community.

The owner says the lizard doesn't catch its own food, adding that its food normally comes from HEB.

I used to live on Guam. Those things were all over the golf course. We Had to shoo them away from our ball every now and again so we could hit. They get big.
