Yep. I was 2 years ahead of him and played football with him for 2 years (he played varsity as a freshman) and also did power lifting with him. He was our starting MLB where I was our starting DT, so we spent a lot of time BSing around. I know he's big into fishing and it looks like he's trying his hand at the professional level. Best of luck to him. He was a pretty cool guy in HS.

Cool. I threw discus against him, we were in the same region. I threw in the 180s, which is usually considered pretty damn good. He threw farther standing from the front of the ring than I did spinning. He threw 215, and still holds the Texas state HS record (as far as I know). I watched him throw over 220 multiple times warming up.

Yep. He was recruited to Texas for both football and track and threw for them a year or two.

Aside from him, my hometown is apparently also known for The greatest Texas high school football player you probably never heard of. I also played with his son. Texas Sports HOF Inductee and looks to still hold the career INT record in the state.

I was also going to say "The Birthplace of Texas" and Corey Pullig of football fame in the early 90's.

Was this the year 5A went to two divisions? I feel like I remember seeing Division 1 Champs sign or banner at Leo Buckley when we played there for a playoff game in 2000.
