Time for a new one for me. Seems like Casper and Leesa triggered a mattress renaissance, because there are a lot of options.
And go!

Ok the Sam's special it is
arrogant asshats are going to chime in that if you do not buy Band X, Y or Z you are doing it wrong. But that is complete and utter crap.
But you do have to put in legwork to find what is right for you.

Or you can just buy a Zinus California King memory foam mattress on Amazon for 1/15 the cost of what you'd pay at a brick and mortar and save yourself the heartache.

The key is DONT THROW AWAY OLD TRADITIONAL BOX SPRINGS. Beds have generally been lousy since the industry decided the way to sell more mattresses was "planned obsolescence". Like the auto industry moving from '50s durability to '80s disposability, our grandparents never heard the line about "replace your mattress every 8 years". The industry moved away from a forever-lasting true box spring + flippable two-sided quality mattress to selling us all on the supposed benefits of a single-sided mattress on an inanimate "foundation" riser or, worse, memory foam padding that disintegrates. Industry veterans will admit this in direct conversations. Side sleepers suffer the most. It got to the point where I'd tear the sheets off of a comfortable bed during business trips to read labels and figure it out. It's also the reason you may find that you sleep so well in an old country inn with a feather bed topper during vacation.
The hotel industry in many places still demands the durable old systems. You can find and order them if you really dig, but they don't make it easy. I found a box spring maker in Jersey, and the double-sided mattress for Hilton from the commercial side of Serta. Also found out that some high-end legacy hotels in NYC order horsehair mattresses in the traditional blue/white striped cotton ticking. Under normal wear and tear at home, they would need replacing every 40 years or so.

How do you people sleep on the Zinus mattresses? They're hard as a rock. You may as well just sleep on the floor..JoeAggie5 said:
We got a Zinus memory foam in a box for around $200, we tried it out and it's been great. I was very skeptical, but there's a money back guarantee, and for $200 I thought it was worth the risk. We were having all sorts of neck and back pain with our old mattress and this one has been great.

I have a King Tempur-Pedic Luxe Beeze Cloud
Did you buy the thickest version of the Zinus? More comfortable than any spring mattress out there, that's for sure. I like it more than the Tempur-Pedics.boy09 said:How do you people sleep on the Zinus mattresses? They're hard as a rock. You may as well just sleep on the floor..JoeAggie5 said:

We recently bought a king size Ghostbed Luxe, and I have to say that it is exactly what you describe here. I have never felt any mattress this cool...it's awesome!suburban cowboy said:
Ideally I'd spend no more than $1200. No wife so it'll just be me most nights. I like a soft but firm mattress that sleeps cool.
